draining a pond on campus, and there is
plenty of evidence to indicate it's
related to the campus shootings on
April 16.

Crews dug a ditch that is slowly
draining the duck pond at Tech.

No word from State Police are
what they might be looking for, but the
Washington Post reported last week that
police conducted an earlier search of
the duck pond search in hopes of
finding Seung-Hui Cho's computer hard
drive.

The post reports Cho removed the
hard drive from his computer before the
shootings, and someone saw him at the
duck pond the morning of April 16.

eventually able to "deactivate" the
device around 2:45 this afternoon.

Investigators say while the
object looked like a pipe bomb -it was
probably some left over building
material left from years ago.

Several roads around the hospital
were closed today and some residents
were temporarily evacuated as a
preventive measure.

soldiers from the Lynchburg-based 1st
Battalion, 116th Infantry are headed
off to war.

About 300 members of the unit are
stationed in Kosovo until November.

Approximately 180 others -- based
in Bedford, Christiansburg, Pulaski and
Lexington -- are being attached to the
group, which is headed to Camp Shelby
in Mississippi for training before
going to the Middle East.

Some of those being moblized have

already served a year in Iraq -- coming
home last spring.

spend 30 days in jail for the death of
18 year old Brian McCloskey.

McCloskey early one morning as he was
shuttling people to and from a party.

Pierce says he didn't know he had
hit anyone.

Virginia's sentencing guidelines
do NOT call for any jail time for
involuntary manslaughter, but

County teenagers was sentenced today
for his part in spray painting graffiti
all over Christiansburg High School.

found guilty of felony destruction of
property and trespassing.

He was fined and will spend two
months in jail.

Saunders will have to pay
restitution and perform 100 hours of

In May of last year, he and two
other teenagers - Darren Mosier and
Terry Epperly - painted racial slurs,
swastikas and sexual images on the
outside of the school.

Mosier and Epperly got similar
sentences.

end along Interstate 581 this morning.

A large pickup truck was towing a

trailer carrying lawn mowing equipment
when it left the highway near Peters
Creek Road in Roanoke.

It went up a small hill, plowed though
some brush, before stoppingn in a
culvert.

The driver refused ambulance transport
and did not appear to be seriously
hurt.

The accident drew attention but did not
create any significant backups.

police officer accused of killing his
pregnant girlfriend to be held on five
million dollars bond.

Jessie Davis and her unborn fetus.

Davis was missing for about a
week before her body was found in a
Ohio park Saturday.

A former high school classmate of
Cutts --Myisha Ferrell is charged with
obstruction of justice. She's accused
of lying to investigators about the
case.

Ferrell is being held on half a
million dollars bond.

Investigators believe the

announced that he was going to race for
Hendrick Motorsports next season, it
was just the first piece of the puzzle.
What is left is what number car he
would drive and who the Sponsor would
be.

made it known that they would like to
somehow get the Number 8 from Dale
Earnhardt Incorporated. Hendrick even
stating that he wasn't sure what D-E-I
would want for the number. But some
type of payment will not happen.
Nascar says that they own and lease the
numbers out and if a team doesn't want
a number they have been using they can
give it back and have it reassigned and
that there can be no team to team swap

most exciting players to ever perform
on the Friday Football Extra Stage.

Hall has since taken his game to
the University of Virginia, but he ran
into a scary situation this weekend in
Charlottesville. Hall was assaulted
early Sunday Morning in a Parking lot.

2007 Spring Festival Police are investigating the
incident where Hall suffered cuts to
his forehead as well as a lacerated
finger. The injuries are a result of
Hall being hit over the Head with a
Blunt Object. The Manager of a nearby
Resturant where the assault happened
said that Hall was attacked by 2
people. Vic was treated at U-V-A
Medical Center and released.

Hall is a rising Junior as far as
his class goes at U-V-A. But will only
be a sophomore elgibility on the
Football Field. Hall who played
quarterback in High School is in the
running for one of the Cavaliers

starting spots at Cornerback.
