A Roanoke man may avoid a
conviction for the death of a Virginia
Tech student - by serving a month in
jail.

for his part in spray painting graffiti
all over Christiansburg High School.

found guilty of felony destruction of
property and trespassing.

He was fined and will spend two
months in jail.

Saunders will have to pay
restitution and perform 100 hours of
community service.

In May of last year, he and two
other teenagers - Darren Mosier and
Terry Epperly - painted racial slurs,
swastikas and sexual images on the
outside of the school.

Mosier and Epperly got similar
sentences.

today it's cutting its staff by
15-percent.

That means about 35 full and part
time positions will be eliminated.

According to the school's
spokeswoman -none of the academic
programs will be affected by the
change.

She says the cuts are being made
in an effort to operate more
effectively and efficiently.

It was just last year the college
decided to go co-ed after operating as
a single-sex institution for
116-years.

evacuated, several more diverted from
Danville Regional Medical Center.

For some patients surgery was
postponed... all on the strength of a
bomb scare this morning.

It happened around 10:30 when an
electrician found a suspicious device
in a locked mechanical room.


Police were notified and patients
from Tower A were moved to other areas
of the hospital.

A state police robot was
eventually able to "deactivate" the
device around 2:45 this afternoon.

Investigators say while the
object looked like a pipe bomb -it was
probably some left over building
material left from years ago.

Several roads around the hospital
were closed today and some residents
were temporarily evacuated as a
preventive measure.

this area. From his record breaking
days as the quarterback of Gretna High
School. To now, where it is up for
debate whether he is being used
correctly by U-V-A,, as he is slated to
play cornerback.


But everyone should be behind
Hall who was assaulted in a parking lot
in Charlottesville early Sunday
Morning.

VO-NAT Police are investigating the

incident where Hall suffered cuts to
his forehead and a lacerated finger.
This happened after he was hit on the
head with a blunt object. A Manager of
a Resturant near where the assault
happened said that Hall was attacked by
2 people. Vich was treated at U-V-A
Medical Center and released.

He will be entering his Junior
Year for the Cavaliers but has 3
seasons of eligiblity remaining after
being red-shirted. Hall is in the
running for a Starting Cornerback slot
this season.
