out a gun.

No one was hurt, but the
suspect did get away with an

a woman they believe was suicidal after
she jumped in the Roanoke River at

Wayside.

Two county officers saw her sitting
on the river bank.

But she quickly jumped in, and Officer
Matt Vass followed her into the chest-
high water.

Investigators say the 37-year-old
woman was upset over her husband's
deployment to Iraq.

She told a neighbor she was going to
kill herself.

She is currently in police custody
for mental health evaluation.

flooding rains have made conditions

getting an upper hand on that wildfire
near Lake Tahoe, the winds kicked up,
putting hundreds more homes in harm's
way.

per hour are expected to fan the flames

of the wildfire near Lake Tahoeand
firefighters are now scrambling to save

homes they thought were safe just a day
ago.

call..others were clearly frustrated

the sudden turn of events.

later, there are 400 foot flames, a
half a block from me.

The flare-up happened in an area that
firefighters had intentionally burned

out. But The high winds blew embers
across fire lines causing new hot
spots.

This is the area.. where the fire

Since Sunday, this blaze has scorched
more than 3000 acres and destroyed

about 200 homes, not far from the
popular resort town. 1800 firefighters
were

brought in and officials thought they
gained the upper handuntil the wind

picked yesterday. Some 2000 people are
now evacuated and no one is certain

how long they ll be displaced.

Firefighters are promising to do
everything possible to save lives and

That's because Max saved his life
Friday night.

It happened here in the backyard of
his grandparents home on Lacy Lane in
Blacksburg.

basketball coach Bobby Hussey died at a
medical facility in Charlotte, North
Carolina last night.

Virginia Tech as the top assistant to
Bill Foster.

He was a key component of the 19-
95 NIT championship team at Tech and
the team a year later that made the
NCAA tournament.

After Foster's retirement in 19-
97 Hussey took over as the Hokies' head

coach.

But after two seasons, he had a
losing record and was fired by Jim
Weaver.

Hussey's Division I head coaching
career began at Davidson, where he
coached for eight seasons and he was
also a success at Belmont Abbey.

While he was considered a
perfect assistant at both Tech and
Clemson - he actually won 310 games as
a head coach.

Bobby Hussey was 67 years old.

may be several months away, but it's
already on the minds of many in
Roanoke, thanks to Patrick Henry's new
Football stadium.

Many nearby residents have concerns
over traffic and parking.

Last night the city held a public
meeting at the high school to address
any issues.

City leaders say a typical football
game should attract roughly two
thousand fans.

As a result, they believe there's
enough parking on site.

Some residents clearly don't buy
that, others are taking a wait and see
approach.

street parking is to restrict access

officers during the games to direct

area.

Sherman Lea and Brian Wishneff
held a conference to address parking
concerns of downtown merchants.

They also want to eliminate the
proposed parking increases for the rest
of the year.

The two would like to take money
from parking fines to fund the valet
parking service.

They're also calling for shuttles
for low-wage employees and reduced bulk
rate parking to attract businesses to
the downtown area.
