Take the thunder storms. Back in
1989 for example fifteen people were
sent to the hospital for minor injuries
during a lightning storm.

Fair officials say they learned a lot
from that incident.

factor in a deadly accident on

Interstate 77.

It happened between the Fancy Gap
and Hillsville portion of the
interstate.

State police say 43 year old
Beverly Becraft of Austinville was
headed northbound when she lost control
of her PT Cruiser, struck a guard rail,
swerved back onto the interstate and
was struck by a tractor trailer.

Becraft died at the scene.

The driver of the tractor trailer
was not hurt.

community is helping them piece their

displaced after an apartment fire
earlier this week but today many of
those families received items donated
to the Salvation Army.

The charitable organization says
support has continued to come in for
families.

And since many were left with

Commonwealth want to know why the new
"abuser fees" for bad drivers don't
apply to OUT OF STATE drivers too.

It's because D-M-V will collect
the fees, as a condition for renewing
vehicle registrations for Virginia
residents.

As we've said before on News 7,
the fees place hefty fines on people
who drive recklessly or under the

be used to maintain state roads.... and
are part of a massive transportation
funding bill.

Governor Tim Kaine answered calls
about the new law on one of his monthly
radio shows.

Library in the past but today a step
towards a brighter future.

library board announced Tuesday night
that a second facility will be built.

The New Branch Library will be
located on this land in the Westlake
Towne Center, adjacent to the new
Kroger and Westlake Cinemas.

The new facility will supplement

opened in downtown Rocky Mount in 2004
and will offer transfer materials
between the two.

New Branch is expected to open in
January of 20-08.

considering raising the standard.

Currently 126- bacteria colonies
per 100- milliliters of water are
allowed.

The new proposal would allow more
than 200- colonies.

That means ten swimmers out of
one- thousand could get sick with
bloody- diarrhea and stomach cramps.

Environmentalists say raising the
level could make cleaning up Virginia's
1700- polluted streams and rivers more
practical.

Chris Benoit's wife? That's a question
many are now trying to answer,
considering a post went up about her
death on Wikipedia 13 hours before
police found her body in Georgia.

According to published reports, the
post came from a computer that was
traced back to Stamford, Connecticut,

which happens to be home to World
Wrestling Entertainment.
