The new traffic laws take effect
on Sunday.

But one attorney believes
challenges are all but certain... since
citizens can argue they're being
punished twice for the same crime.

The fees are issued on top of
criminal fines for driving recklessly
or under the influence of drugs or
alcohol.... fees anywhere from 750- to
three- thousand- dollars.

Drivers with eight or more
demerit points will also have to pay
100- dollars PLUS 75- dollars for every
point over eight ... that's only for
offenses after July first.

If you've driven through Southeast
you know what we're talking about.

Nearly three years ago, the city of
Roanoke narrowed the streets in several

locations along Bullitt and Jamison

The goal is to make drivers feel so
uncomfortable speeding, that they slow
down.

City leaders say traffic calming is
working, many drivers can't stand it.
