people after he escaped jail will be
sentenced today on the conviction
that put him behind bars in the first
place.

April 4 A Montgomery County jury has
recommended that William Morva serve 38
years in prison for attempted robbery.
Morva will be back in court in
September to face capital murder
charges.

GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident One man is dead after a single
vehicle accident in Lynchburg last
night.
It happened at around eleven
o'clock in the area of Route 501 South
and Wiggington Road.
Police say 52-year-old Dale Wayne
Hansen of Campbell County was ejected
from his vehicle after it overturned.
He later died at the hospital.
The accident is still under
investigation.

GRAPHIC=Fatal Accident Hold Meanwhile, a woman was the victim of
another fatal accident-- this one on
Interstate 77.

It happened between the Fancy Gap
and Hillsville portion of the
interstate.
State police say 43 year old
Beverly Becraft of Austinville was
headed northbound when she lost control
of her PT Cruiser, struck a guard rail,
swerved back onto the interstate and
was struck by a tractor trailer.
Becraft died at the scene.
The driver of the tractor trailer
was not hurt.

attractions is back.
The Salem Fair is celebrating
it's 20th anniversary this year.

way to bring people to the Salem Civic
Center because summer is typically a
quiet time of year.
City leaders didn't really know
what to expect, in fact many felt the
fair wouldn't last very long.

Boy have things changed.
Today the fair is the second
largest in the state and the largest
free gate fair in the country.
The Salem Fair typically attracts
between two and three hundred thousand
people and over twenty years that adds
up to several million fairgoers.
The fair runs now until July 8th.

Library in the past - but now there's
a step towards a brighter future.

The board of supervisors and the
library board announced Tuesday night
that a second facility will be built.
The New Branch Library will be
located on this land in the Westlake
Towne Center, adjacent to the new
Kroger and Westlake Cinemas.
The new facility will supplement
the services of the Central Library,
which opened in downtown Rocky Mount
in 2004 and will offer transfer
materials between the two.
New Branch is expected to open in
January of 20-08.

Starting Sunday, sexual predators
will be banned from school grounds.
And nursing homes and assisted
living facilities will also be notified
when one moves in nearby.

for kids required to ride in
child-restraint devices.
That age has INCREASED from five
years old to eight ... unless a doctor
provides a documentation that the child
