Christiansburg is finally out.

An old railroad building caught
fire around 10:30 this morning and
burned for most of the afternoon.

Flames could be seen from a
nearby neighborhood and smoke was
visible for miles.

The building was abandoned and
fire officials say no other property
was in danger.

Norfolk Southern officials are
investigating.

So far, we have no word on how it
started.

up steam.

alert system Monday and 3-thousand
people have already signed up for the

Students, staff and faculty who

numbers will get text messages on their

Town workers have used heavy
equipment in the last year to prepare
the 17 acres site for building.

The facility will house three
pools - a 50 meter competition pool, a
family pool and a therapy pool.

Last year town officials took out
a bond to cover the 12 million dollar
plan.

It should be completed by
December, 2008.

College Lacrosse Camp for boys ages 10
to 18 this afternoon over in Salem.
There were 175 players taking part but
not that many sets of parents coming to
pick their sons up.

part in the camp, including a set of
triplets. The family connection was
not just relegated to the players.
