And the danger from the Milford Flat
Fire isn't letting up, with dry

conditions and high winds fanning the

"THE FIRE IS SO INTENSE AND THE SMOKE
IS SO INTENSE THAT WE HAVE NOT BEEN
ABLE TO FLY OUR HELICOPTERS OR OUR
PLANES AND WITH THE WINDS IT'S MADE IT
EVEN WORSE."

Officials closed two interstates in
Utah because of heavy smoke. The poor

visibility is blamed for several
accidents, including one which killed
two

people.

((nats fire))

The situation's a bit better near Los
Angeles, where firefighters have

contained part of a fire burning in the
Antelope Valley area.

Dozens of people have been evacuated.

Sheila Schaefer/homeowner

"HOPEFULLY I'LL BE ABLE TO COME BACK
HOME BECAUSE THAT WILL BE THE BEST
THING."

((nats Idaho wind ))

That's the hope across the western U.S,
as hundreds of fires burning in ten

states force so many families from
their homes. One of the blazes in

southwestern South Dakota killed one
person and destroyed at least twenty

houses.

And with little rain in the forecast
and already parched land all across

the West , we could be seeing many more

pictures like these this summer. Wendy

respectively, but after the race they
were still upset about the bumping and
grinding.

Hornish and Kanaan get in each
others faces before Hornish's dad got
into the mix and wisely pulled his son
away. But then pops decided to come
back and shove Kanaan in the chest with
two hands.

Eventually Mr. Hornish will get
knocked to the ground - and a couple of
crew members on both sides got into a
scuffle.

The fight was basically a draw,
but Scott Dixon clearly won the race.
