Around 4- 30 Friday morning, a
rabid fox attacked a dog.

It happened in the 900 block of
North Camp Road in Salem.

Lewis Goode, the owner, heard the
commotion outside first thinking his
dog Bailey was barking at a deer.

When it continued though, he went
to check it and that's when he saw the
fox aggressively hunting down his dog.

It turns out Goode was right.

The Health Department spent the
weekend testing the fox and reported
yesterday that it was infected with
rabies.

but she seems to be doing just fine.

However her owners have to
monitor her closely for the next 45
days.

apprehended in Montgomery County.

The sheriff's office arrested 36
year old Joseph L. Pistory of
Christiansburg on Friday and charged
him with numerous counts of larceny and
vandalism.

Investigators say they caught
Pistory, on video tape, stealing from a
car at the Frog Pond swimming pool.

The vehicle and cameras were set
up by the sheriff's office in response
to numerous complaints from guests at
the pool.

Investigators are asking anyone
who had a theft nearby and didn't
report it, to give them a call.

looking to the community to help track
down a bank robber- who tied up the
teller.

The heist happened Saturday
afternoon around four... at the Blue
Ridge Bank - near the New River Valley
Mall.

Only one teller was there, and
the robber tied her up.

She wasn't hurt and there's no
word on how much money was taken.

running red lights may be caught on
camera.

Red light cameras like these in
Oregon are linked electronically to
stoplights, and they document the times
drivers run through red lights.

A trial program in some of
Virginia's largest metro areas expired
a while back, but a new state law went
into effect this month giving
communities of 10-thousand or more the

right to set up red light cameras.

Those communities must approve
them first.

them any time soon in our region

yesterday afternoon when he was awarded
a five thousand dollar gift to help pay
for his new house.

schools may have to get used to a new
style of dressing.

The school board has unanimously
approved a change to the dress code.

The changes will limit skirt
lengths to no higher than three inches
above the top of the knee.

The new rules also state that no
shirt may reveal any part of a female's
breasts.

The school board says the
code applies to students, faculty and

staff.

keeping new faces away.

this week for orientation.

The class of 20-11 is more than
5-thousand strong.

They'll be arriving for the next
3 weeks to learn more about being a
Hokie.

new group of freshmen?

57-percent of them are men.

The most common names are Michael

place.

The Girl Scouts currently have no
place to call home, and they want to
change that.

girl scouts held camp at Dark Hollow
off Route 311 in Roanoke County.

Back in April, the scouts sold
