conspirator in the bank robbery... but
the plan blew up... killing Wells.

Just a few hours ago.. authorities
spelled out more of the bizarre

plan the bank robbery he carried out

with a collar bomb around his neck
nearly 4 years ago, but federal

investigators in Erie, Pennsylvania say
he likely became an unwilling

participant in the plot that ended when
the bomb exploded.

Sadly the plans of the other
individuals were much more sinister
with Brian

s, much more sinister and he died as a
result.

Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong and Kenneth
Barnes, two individuals already in
prison for other crimes, are charged
with bank robbery, conspiracy and
weapons

charges. Authorities say
Dielh-Armstrong needed money to pay
someone to kill her father and
masterminded the plan.

was participant s intention for it to
seem like the person wearing the

explosive device was the hostage.

The lawyer for Diehl-Armstrong says his
client is innocent.

Susan Robert/CBS News:

In court papers, Wells was listed as
un-indicted co-conspirator, but his
brother says he had nothing to do with
the plot and is unhappy with the way

police handled the incident

John Wells/brother:

19 hours after the bomb went off,
federal authorities chopped his head
off to get the collar off. There s no
way Brian put that on.

Nat sound pleading: Why isn t anyone
trying to get this off.

Wells certainly seemed like a victim
back in 2003 when he pleaded with
police to help him, but the device
detonated before help could arrive.

Authorities say the suspects used a
live bomb to keep Wells honest - they
wanted to make sure he carried out the
robbery and turned over the money. But
the plan blew up, and cost Wells his

The rain is slowing the fire, but
officials expect the flames to pick
back up with drier weather.

has helped investigators figure out the
identity of a murder victim.

Althea Ann Royal of Ringgold was
murdered over the weekend in Halifax
County.

no identification with the body.

Yesterday, deputies got a
missing person's report matching the
victim's description. After speaking

with relatives and sending fingerprints
to the medical examiner's office,
investigators were able to make a
positive i-d.

Deputies had already
arrested and charged Stephen Leonard
Nelson of Danville with first degree
murder.

down the aircraft in a heavily wooded

Ashley Plantation's Chip Sullivan
continued playing well this summer
leading the field into the final round
of the Maryland State Open today.

Chip shot in the 60s each of the
three rounds, but his luck ran out as
he lost by a stroke.

Sullivan had a one-shot lead on
Billy Wingerd going into the 18th
today, but Sullivan's bogey was not
enough to hold on to the championship
as Wingerd birdied to finish with a
blistering 65 to win the tournament.

Chip will tee up next weekend at
the SunTrust State Open of Virginia in
Richmond.

game was played last night in San
Francisco - and it's definitely was
geared for a west coast audience - with
the final out not coming until
midnight.

Fox Sports-MLB Barry Bonds got a hero's welcome
in his home ball park when he was
introduced. The standing ovation at
AT&T field lasted well over a minute
for the man about to break Hank Aaron's
homerun record.

The City by the Bay also honored
Bonds' Godfather and former Giant great
Willie Mays in the pregame ceremonies.
The Say Hey kid threw out the first
pitch.

The American stars won for the
11th straight time and made some
history as Ichiro Suzuki - the Mariners
star hit the first inside the park
homer in all-star history. He was
named the MVP and his manager last
night was ammazed by his power in both

swept the online video competition to
be The Simpsons' honorary hometown.

With 13 other Springfield's
competing, all it took was a small film
crew and a big donut to put the town
with a population of 93-hundred on the
map.

The prize in the competition is
to host The Simpsons movie premiere.

In it's 18 seasons on T-V, the
location of the cartoon Springfield has
never been revealed.
