turkeys at a farm in Virginia do not
appear to have been exposed to the
highly deadly strain of avian flu seen
in other parts of the world.

Monday Earlier this week, officials
banned all live poultry sales and shows
for the rest of the month in the state.
This after a flock of 54-thousand
turkeys at a Shenandoah County farm
tested positive for avian flu
antibodies.
The agriculture department will
do further testing to better
characterize the virus to which these
birds may have been exposed.

help them catch a murder suspect.

allegedly shooting and killing a
pregnant woman, 21-year-old Tasha
Nowlin last month.

June 9 Faulkner's arrest now totals three

Authorities believe he's still in
the area...one way they know this, they
say the victim's family tried to go
after him last week.

GRAPHIC=Murder Investigation Investigators say a missing
persons report has helped them figure
out the identity of a murder victim.

VO-NAT Police say 47-year old
Althea Ann Royal of Ringgold was
murdered over the weekend in Halifax
County.

Tuesday road in the Paces area- but there was
no identification with the body.
On Tuesday, deputies got a
missing person's report matching the
victim's description.
After speaking with relatives and
sending fingerprints to the medical
examiner's office, investigators were
able to make a positive i-d.
Deputies had already
arrested and charged Stephen Leonard
Nelson of Danville with first degree
murder.

dangerous for a 70- year- old man, who
accidentally stabbed himself in the
neck.

yesterday morning..
They believe he was going down
the steps to sharpen a fillet knife for

several times in the past.

16 and younger.
Now a juvenile curfew center has
opened in an attempt to keep kids off
the street and out of trouble.

downtown center will prevent the
likelihood of juveniles being involved
in crime.
They bring in the curfew-breaking
juveniles to the center on Church
Avenue.
There someone will try to contact
a family member or guardian.

teen...he or she can get back out on
the street.

have new turf athletic fields.

workers have been busy digging up Bogle
Field, getting it ready for the turf.
The field sure could use it.
With both Cave Spring and Hidden
Valley using it for their football
games, Bogle is often over used.

County are one step closer to deciding
the fate of Alleghany High School.

a possible new 900 student school.
The board has already collected
information on three renovation and
expansion options.
The superintendent hopes to bring
