sigh of relief.

The Agriculture Department says
turkeys at a farm in Virginia do not
appear to have been exposed to the
highly deadly strain of avian flu seen
in other parts of the world.

banned all live poultry sales and shows
for the rest of the month in the state.

This after a flock of 54-thousand
turkeys at a Shenandoah County farm
tested positive for avian flu

has helped investigators figure out the
identity of a murder victim.

Althea Ann Royal of Ringgold was
murdered over the weekend in Halifax
County.

no identification with the body.

On Tuesday, deputies got a
missing person's report matching the
victim's description.

After speaking with relatives and
sending fingerprints to the medical
examiner's office, investigators were
able to make a positive i-d.

Deputies had already
arrested and charged Stephen Leonard

Nelson of Danville with first degree
murder.

about two puppy scams that are going
around the internet.

Those scams are based in a claim
to have a dog for sale.

The victim sends the payment, but
the animal is never delivered or never
even existed.

After hearing that report, some
viewers sent in other puppy scams that
are out there.

VO NAT These scams could be for any type
of pet, not just puppies.

Websites like Petfinder.com offer
classifieds for lost and found animals
and ones that need to be adopted.

Scammers will answer the ad
saying they'll give the pet a good
home, but will need a payment to have
the cat or dog shipped.

Petfinders.com reports in many
instances, the scammer will suggest a
"financial transaction" to obtain
funds.

Another pet-related scam out
there is simply a spam email.

In many cases, the message is
poorly written with broken English
offering a healthy purebred puppy at a

deeply discounted price.

unsolicited ad you may receive by
email.

Another way scammers are ripping
off pet-lovers is to sell animals that
are sick or have forged paperwork.

woman murdered over the weekend in
Halifax County, and they believe she
did NOT know the suspect.

There was no identification with
the body, but deputies got a missing

arrested and charged Stephen Leonard
Nelson of Danville with first degree
murder.

Investigators say Royal may have

about two puppy scams that are going
around the internet.

Those scams are based in a claim
to have a dog for sale.

The victim sends the payment, but
the animal is never delivered or never
even existed.

After hearing that report, some
viewers sent in other puppy scams that
are out there.

VO NAT These scams could be for any type
of pet, not just puppies.

Websites like Petfinder.com offer
classifieds for lost and found animals
and ones that need to be adopted.

Scammers will answer the ad
saying they'll give the pet a good
home, but will need a payment to have
the cat or dog shipped.

Petfinders.com reports in many
instances, the scammer will suggest a
"financial transaction" to obtain
funds.

Another pet-related scam out
there is simply a spam email.

In many cases, the message is
poorly written with broken English
offering a healthy purebred puppy at a
deeply discounted price.

unsolicited ad you may receive by
email.

Another way scammers are ripping
off pet-lovers is to sell animals that
are sick or have forged paperwork.
