in a fatal stabbing in Altavista.

apartment complex in the 16-hundred
block of Toddbury Road just after
midnight for a reported disturbance.

That's where they found a
35-year-old Herman Kelly, Senior
outside ... he'd been stabbed several
times in the chest.

Kelly was pronounced dead at the

Police just named the suspect-- 48
year old Mack Wayne Pennell of Gretna.
He has been charged with second-degree
murder.

Forty-year-old Thomas Manuel
Paige, Junior, arrived at the Roanoke
airport yesterday afternoon.

The U.S. Marshal believes Paige
has been in Jamaica ever since he
allegedly shot and killed several
people at an apartment on Staunton
Avenue in 1989.

Debra Salters and Slyvia Baker
died .... while Joyce Washington and
Wilford Branch survived the attack.

They helped identify Paige as the
shooter.
