That's how both Stephanie Salzone
and Micheal Moser remember their 8th
grade teacher Mr. Deloach.
He was simply known as "Mr. D" to
them, and others around Forest Middle
School where he was a teacher for
several years.

AND WE SHOULD BE TREATED LIKE THEM.

He described Mr. Deloach as a
fun, outgoing and a creative teacher.
So when they heard the news their
favorite teacher was now facing
criminal charges, it was unbelievable
and something they neither would have

disheartening to think that such a
well-respected teacher amongst
falculty, parents and students would be
accused of such a crime.
Pfister has since double checked
with her son Michael to make sure
nothing inappropriate every happened at
school.

morning turned deadly for the man
trying to get away.
Deputies were after Justin Ryan
Smith of Forest.
Authorities say Smith lost
control of his Chevy Blazer on Bellevue
BELLVIEW Road, crashed into a tree and
was thrown from the S-U-V.
Deputies were trying to catch him
for wreckless driving.
He was pronounced dead at the
scene.

GRAPHIC=Motorcycle Accident Another fatal accident yesterday,
but this time in Danville, where
witnesses say a man pulling out of his
drive-way backed into a motorcyclist.

The crash happened around 2:30
yesterday afternoon on North Main
Street.
The motorcyclist died a short
time later at the hospital.
Police say the victim,
29-year-old Tony Tyrone Kirby of
Danville was going South when a man
driving a pick-up truck collided with
him.
So far no charges have been
filed.
The accident is under
investigation.

turkeys at a Shenandoah County farm is
going to carry a costly pricetag.
A federal agency says the
outbreak in 54-thousand turkeys could
run the farm up to 600-thousand
dollars.
But, the Department of
Agriculture will reimburse the farmer
the market value of the turkeys and the
U-S-D-A will also cover the cost of
destroying and disposing of the birds.

the hospital.

transportation in Japan yesterday.
Japanese television showed
footage of washed out roads and flooded
streets.
A flooded river killed an 11 year
old boy.
The typhoon hit the island chain

The area is still trying to dry

Johnson was remembered as a woman
who loved beauty in nature, in children
and in democracy.
Friends and family gathered to
remember her in Austin yesterday.
She died of natural causes on
Wednesday at the age of 94.
Guests included First Lady Laura
Bush, former President Bill Clinton and
his wife Senator Hillary Rodham
Clinton, former President Jimmy Carter
and a host of others.

Sumatran tiger attacked a zoo keeper in
a non-public area of the San Antonio
Zoo.
Zoo officials say the tiger is 4
to 5 years old.
The zookeeper is listed in
critical condition at University
Hospital in San Antonio.
The nature of his injuries are
unknown.

Fieldale Walking Trail.
The one-mile hiking and biking
route officially opened yesterday
morning.
It runs along the old Danville
and Western rail bed, just above the
Smith River.

trail.
They're hoping outdoor activities
like this will add to Southside's
growing tourism industry.
