asking for yet another rate increase?

Well Keith, the company stresses this
is totally separate from the last one.

The power company is now asking the
state to approve rate adjustments for
fuel costs, and environmental projects.

If approved, a customer's bill would
go up about 4.7 percent in September
and then another 3.5 percent in
December.

For the average customer, that would
add another five to six dollars to your

monthly bill.

Appalachian Power realizes that may
be a little hard to swallow considering
customers just a saw an increase back
in May.

considers itself one of the cheapest
providers of power in the country.

Virginia.

body.

Goad was shocked... along with
his stepfather, Stephen Bakaitis

live wire at the Radford Foundry.

The two men were taken to U-V-a
Medical Cente.


Bakaitis' buh-KEYE-tis'
condition has varied.

Most recently, he was upgraded to
serious condition, again.

The two admitted trying to steal
copper from the foundry last week.

from that person again.

Police say they're going over leads

that police searched Smith Mountain
Lake looking for Grabowski's pickup

There's a discrepancy over how
much Phelps had in her account that
day, but Valley Bank confirms the
"merchant hold" on her account is what
prevented Phelps from using her card
again at Food Lion.

She says she had to borrow money
to pay for the groceries.

had a fantastic season under Seth
Greenberg in 2-thousand 6, 2-thousand
7. The team was led by a Senior
Backcourt of Zabian Dowdell and Jamon
Gordon. With the graduation of those
2, it appeared that Nigel Munson who
came of the bench last season as a
Freshman would slide into the starting
point guard position.

But rumors all sumer have been
rampant that Munson wanted to leave
Blacksburg and transfer.

VO-NAT The Washington Post is reporting

that that is going to happen. Munson
will transfer from Virginia Tech after
only one season.

The Paper is reporting that
Munson who went to High School at
DeMatha in the D.C. area has been
released from his Scholarship by the
school.

Munson played in 32 games last

season for the hokies, averaging 11
minutes and 3 points per game.

(END SOT) year that Roanoke has hosted what is in

effect the State's Olympic games.

In those nearly two decades - 143
thousand athletes have made the trek to
the Roanoke Valley.

It is a unique weekend of
competition to be sure and one that has
managed to sustain some staying power
over the years.

Localities in the valley help the
games with staffing, funding and
facilities.

Already nearly 3000 athletes have
competed in games this year in
everything from all-star baseball to
Black Powder shooting.

58 sports in all will make up
this year's Coventry Commonwealth Games
and Lampman suggests fans take in
something a little different this year.

The opening ceremonies will take
place Friday night at eight with guest
speaker - Rebecca Lobo - the former
WNBA star and olympic gold medalist.
