In Lynchburg, falling trees and
branches knocked out power in several
neighborhoods ... emergency crews spent
the evening responding to calls of
downed power lines and arcing
(ARE-king) wires.

Several roads were blocked by
fallen trees, and at least one vehicle

was seriously damaged when a tree
splintered and fell on top of it.

Drivers should be cautious of
standing water on many area roads.

pledging to find a way to include out
of state drivers in the the new abuser
fee law.

Today the governor and Republican
lawmakers defended the fees and assured
drivers who get the occasional speeding
ticket they won't get socked with a

D-U-I and reckless driving OR
Virginians who've accumulated eight or
more demerit points on their records
since July first.

Delegate Morgan Griffith says
the Supreme Court's explanation of the

SkyTracker7 Forecast Center. The high
temperature today in Roanoke was 92.
Locally tonight, a line of storms is
moving from the Roanoke Valley eastward
to Lynchburg. Several inches of rain
has already fallen in these areas. With
more on the way tonight, localized
flooding of poor drainage areas is
possible. The national analysis shows a

cold front approaching the area with
periods of heavy showers and embedded
storms along it. The front will pass
through early Friday, with a lingering
shower/storm in the morning and slow
clearing during the afternoon.
Temperatures will be held down as a
result of the clouds and showers. The
weekend looks quiet, with little chance
of rain and much more comfortable

of storms is moving from the Roanoke
Valley eastward to Lynchburg. Several
inches of rain has already fallen in
these areas. With more on the way
tonight, localized flooding of poor
drainage areas is possible. The
national analysis shows a cold front
approaching the area with periods of
heavy showers and embedded storms along
it. The front will pass through early
Friday, with a lingering shower/storm

in the morning and slow clearing during
the afternoon. Temperatures will be
held down as a result of the clouds and

We're told a visitor contacted
authorities after seeing a suspicious
object hanging from a tree.

The State Police brought out a robot
to check it and and soon after
detonated the device.

It's now been sent to a lab to find
out exactly what it was.

At no time was the hospital or any
building at Lewis Gale evacuated.

tested positive for the Avian flu in
Shenandoah County...

VO-NAT Roughly 54-thousand turkeys had a

mild strain of the virus.

So...agriculture leaders issued a
ban on live poultry shows and sales
through the end of the month.

That ban would affect the State
Fair of West Virgina and Rockbridge
