It happened outside a medical office
building on the east side of the
hospital.

We're told a visitor contacted
authorities after seeing a suspicious
object hanging from a tree.

The State Police brought out a robot
to check it and and soon after

detonated the device.

It's now been sent to a lab to find
out exactly what it was.

At no time was the hospital or any
building at Lewis Gale evacuated.

That's the message that came out
of a rare joint- appearance yesterday
by Governor Tim Kaine and Republican
lawmakers.

The group pledged to find a way
to include out of state drivers in the
law.

There's also a push to remove
some of the misdemeanor infractions
that apply to the fees.

Lawmakers assured Virginians who
get an occasional speeding ticket won't

be affected.

They say the goal is to improve
safety... since 900 to one- thousand
people die on Virginia roads each year.

has announced plans to hold an open
work session.

Wednesday Panel Chairman Gerald Massengill
says it's important for Virginians to
see how the panel works and to get an
idea of how the final report is being
compiled.

There will be NO public comment
at that meeting.

The time and location will be set
next week.

Meanwhile, panel members met in
closed session yesterday to discuss
information protected by privacy laws.

Some victims' relatives are
asking the panel to identify issues
beyond their scope so they can be
reviewed by a federal commission later.

Governor Kaine said he doesn't
think a federal review is necessary.

Vick, amid accusations he sponsored a

brutal dogfighting ring in his Virginia
home.

Nike execs say they will NOT
release a fifth signature shoe -- the
Air Zoom Vick -- this summer.

The four shoe products and three
shirts that currently bear Vick's name
will remain in stores.

This follows Tuesday's indictment
against Vick for his alleged role in a
dog fighting ring.

The indictment says Vick and
three others attended or took part in
at least 30 fights.... fights that took
place on property the football player
