GRAPHIC=NONE Back to tonight's top story..in
Minnesota......as we said....six people
are dead....many more are hurt....at
last check, local hospitals were
treating 37 people...
The Interstate 35 West
Bridge collapsed during rush hour,
sending cars plunging into the
Mississippi river...
Early estimates say 50 to
100 cars were on the bridge at the time
of the collapse....it happened right
around 6 this evening....
We do know there was
construction going on but transporation
officials say it was nothing
structural....
People that watched the
whole thing unfold described what they
saw....some even going as far as saying
they though the world was coming to an
end....
Drivers were being told
to avoid the downtown area.......and
families that were concerned about
loved ones were told to stay
patient.....
Divers were in the water
but from what we understand.......some
of the areas were hard to reach because
of all the debris in the
water......we're talking literally just
chunks of concrete falling....

medications that work to dissolve the
fat.
The doctor says it can be used
almost anywhere on the body and the
results are permanent as long as the
patient maintains their weight.
Patients can lose up to two inches of

OQ=METEOROLOGIST JAY WEBB. ((THUMBS <

(END SOT) grow! It's a great time of year to do
some gardening, and with that we offer
your August almanac.
++++++++++
High temperatures this month are still
rather warm. Expect low 80s in
Blacksburg, mid 80s for Roanoke and
Lynchburg, and upper 80s in Danville.
Lows average in the low and mid 60s,
except for the New River Valley where
lows are closer to the upper 50s.
++++++++++
SU: The weather department will likely
still have to do some watering this
month, but August usually brings a fair
amount of rain.
++++++++++
From Roanoke, to Blacksburg, Lynchburg
and Danville we average around 3.50"
this month.
++++++++++
The Full Moon is called the Sturgeon
moon. Look for it on August 28th at
6:35a.m.
++++++++++
Since the full moon is late in the
month, the Perseid Meteor Shower should
be easily visible on the nights of the
12th and 13th. While difficult to
predict, there may be up to 60 meteors
per hour. Just look northeast after
11:30 each night. Best viewing is away
from city lights.
++++++++++
SU: Hope your tomatoes are turning out
a good as ours! Have a great month, I'm
