The last time Virgnia Tech and LSU
met on the football field was five
years ago in Lane Stadium.

This year's game is in Baton Rouge
and with both teams ranked in the Top
Ten, September 8's game will be
important.

It will also be special.

In attendance, will be a group from
Tech's Civil and Environmental
Engineering Department.

Department is paying to send 8 Virginia
Tech students and one professor to the
game.

That's how many the department lost

this weekend.

several downtown streets... to make
room for more than 170 vendors.

course...chowing down on a variety of
festival food.

Not to mention, there was
continuous live music on two stages.

Steppin' Out has been a tradition
in Blacksburg for more than "20 years".

has weakened to a tropical storm but is
still battering southern Japan with
heavy rain and high winds.

VO NAT Up to 6 inches of rainfall was
forecast for central Japan. The
northern portion of the country is
expected to get hit by the storm later
this weekend.

VO NAT Heavy monsoon rains and floods
have killed at least 178 people in
Bangladesh and northern India.

Torrential downpours have caused
dozens of rivers to come out of their
banks, swamping nearby villiages. A
monsoon is a seasonal wind shift which
typically brings either dry patterns or
extreme rainfall.

VO NAT And here in the US, more severe
weather is expected for Colorado today.
Thunderstorms blew up over parts of the
state yesterday, triggering flood
warnings and causing serious flooding
problems.

President Bush is on his way here.. to

BRIDGE The President has promised
federal aid to build a new bridge
across the

Mississippi.. and Congress has okayed
250 million dollars.. but a good deal
of

the focus here is on what caused the
collapse.

the "State Medical Examiner's Office"
has POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED a body found
in Smith Moutain Lake.

(Grott-TUS).

He had been missing for "four"
months.

two men who were hurt in a car
accident.

afternoon on "Fairway Forest Drive" in
Roanoke County.

These pictures were taken by News
7's Alex Lawson.

According to witnesses...the
driver of this car had a seizure.

The car then went down a driveway
and over an enbankment.

The car then burst into flames.

A neighbor came to the rescue to
help get the two men out.

Their injuries were minor.
