(END SOT) Roanoke city animal control officers
caught the doe near the Rodeway Inn on
Orange Avenue. Her fawn was picked in
the same spot the next morning... but
by then the mother had already been put
down, based on advice from the Virginia
Department of Game and Inland
Fisheries. The doe had been
tranquilized and officials feared she
might be shot illegally and eaten.
That reasoning didn't sit well with a
lot of viewers:
"The excuse that even though it's not
hunting season, if someone killed her
and ate the meat they might get sick,
is ridiculous to me!" Tonie Lugar
wrote. "If someone kills a deer out of
season, and eats it, and in turn ends
up sick its their own fault and they
deserve to be sick!"
Another viewer asked "Did it ever occur
to them to hold the deer until the
drugs worked out of her system-- as if
that is an excuse. Animal Control in
Roanoke should be ashamed of
themselves."

with us for even showing the doe's

carried upside down and thrown into a
vehicle? "

Montreal, the first ever trip by Nascar
North of the Border. Well the Nextel
Cup Cars were racing in Pocono. Robby
Gordon had planned on running both
races.
But Nascar parked Gordon for his
actions at the end of the Busch Race
when he refused to pull out of line and
spun leader Marcos Ambrose
intentionally. That meant P.J. Jones
went into the 7 car for today's
Pennsylvania 5-hundred.

ESPN Dale Earnhardt Junior and Kurt
Busch started on the front row leading
the field to green.
Jamie McMurray had a rough going
early on. He would spin the 26 car not
once but twice in the first 65 laps,
second time he may have gotten some
help.
The dominant car for most of the
Day was the Number 2 Miller Lite Dodge
of Kurt Busch who led the most laps of
anyone in the field.
In the end no one could catch
Busch who takes the checkered flag
breaking a 41 race winless streak at
the Pennsylvania 5-hundred. We'll hear
from the winner tonight at 11.
