Faulkner. They had been looking for him because they believe he's responsible for the shooting death of his ex-girlfriend Tasha Nowlin...who was pregnant when she was gunned down on Royal Drive in Martinsville. Police have long believed that Faulkner was still in the area. When they did close in on him, they say he surrendered quickly and without incident.

on the lake. Especially when antique and classic boats are involved. Friday and Saturday 30-40 vintage water-crafts will be at Smith Mountain Lake for the 17th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show.

in some of the most important court battles of the civil rights movement died in Richmond yesterday.

VO-NAT Oliver Hill was born in Richmond
in 1907, but he moved to Roanoke at the age of six. After his graduation from Howard University, he came back to Roanoke in 1934 to practice law. Hill won his first civil rights case in Richmond in 1940. By the early 50s, he and his partners were fighting segregation in Prince Edward County, one of five cases that would lead to the U.S. Supreme Court and the landmark Brown vs. Board of Education decision. And when the state closed its public schools rather than integrate, Hill continued to fight the policy known as massive resistance.
