astronaut and her six crewmates made a

picture perfect launch.

in the next couple of days....

now boring through a thousand feet of
solid rock.

The owner of the mine says it
will take at least two more days to
reach the trapped miners.

If the miners are alive---


rescuers can use the 2 and a half inch
wide hole to send down food and water.


Mine officials do caution even a
small error in calculations could
result in the drill missing the cavity
where the six men are believed to be.

rescue.......and Blacksburg is hosting
a mining competition that puts rescue
skills to the test.

The staged situations are similar
to the ones we're seeing in Utah.

When a mine is unstable- these
miners are the ones to go back down.

And they're all here to learn
more through healthy competition.

Each of these teams could be
called on to enter a collapsed or
dangerous mine to search for survivors.

their four game set and once again it
was smoking at the yard.

This one was back and froth all
night. The Hillcats are building on

take a 4-to-2 lead.

But Salem would forge ahead with

up to two months with a broken ankle.


Alvarez is a six-five - 315 pound
lineman from C.D. Hylton high school in
