Liberty Road overpass in September of
2002, taking some big chunks of

concrete off the bridge.

V-DOT crews closed two southbound lanes
of 581 for several hours. The
interstate quickly returned to normal,
but repair work on the bridge lasted
several months.

outages reported today, but Appalachian
Power is asking customers in the
Hollins areas of Roanoke County to
conserve energy until eight tonight.

APCO says a transformer there is
running close to its maximum safe
temperature, and lower electric use may
help keep the system from overloading

who disappeared on Claytor Lake last
night.

Steven L. Seymour was on a boat
with his wife when they crossed waves
created by another boat.

According to the Department of
Game and Inland Fisheries, Seymour
became unsteady and fell overboard.

His wife stopped the boat and
tried to rescue him.

Seymour was not wearing a life
preserver.

Divers will continue to search
the area a little while longer.

A boat will also patrol the area
until later tonight.

A cadaver dog was also brought in
earlier today, but didn't have much
luck.

in Pulaski County -- James Clark is
accused of raping two women -- one
confined to a wheelchair.

He was caught the next morning,
found hiding in a Donald Akers' car,
and Akers used his shotgun to hold
Clark until police got there.

employers is making job cuts.

We first told you last night that
Advance Auto Parts announced it will
layoff 250 workers.

out in Tulsa tunred out to be a rough
one for Ashley Plantation pro Chip
Sullivan.

Chip started on the back nine
today and despite having a triple bogey
on a par three, he was only two over
par at the turn.

But the final nine holes were as
brutal as the Oklahoma heat. Chip
bogeyed six of his last nine holes to
finish the first round at 8 over par.

Chip will tee off in the second
round tomorrow at 2:20pm

Jessica Hollandsworth make a mockery of
the 38th annual VIrginia State Golf
Association junior tournament in
Midlothian today.

Yesterday she shot a tournament
record 66 and then followed that up
today -

ENG#=2 VO-NAT

VO-NAT with a scorching 68. The 17

year-old rising senior at Floyd
finished the tournament with a 10-under

par total. Jessica is the only player
to ever shoot two rounds in the 60s in
this championship that dates all the
way back to 1970.

Her 134 two day total crushes the
mark set last year by Blacksburg's
Courtney Ellenbogen by 7 shots.

The VSGA event was played at the
Independance Course just outside of
Richmond.

the stars off of last year's state
runner-up team has verbally committed
to play her college basketball in the
Big South.

2007 Group A State Tournament Lindsey Thompson - the rising
senior on Alan Cantrell team will be
playing her college hoops at
UNC-Asheville.

She has been a two year starter

averaging 14 points a game for the Lady
Buffs on teams that have gone a
combined 56-2 in the past two seasons.

Lindsey also plays for Mike
McGuire in the Roanoke Stars AAU
program, and in June of this summer
she tore the ACL in her right knee. UNC
Asheville didn't let that deter them
and Lindesy is currently on themend,
hoping to be back in action for Floyd
by January.

By the way - that now makes 5
Division I commitments for the Roanoke
Stars class of 2008.
