After investigating for months,
state police now believe Cho may have
rehearsed his attack two days before
the April 16th shootings at Virginia
Tech.

Norris Hall on Saturday April 14th.

before the shootings there were several
bomb threats at Tech.

Police did handwriting analysis
and can confirm that Cho did NOT make
any of those threats.

As to why he left a bomb threat
on the 16th.. we may never know.

old Ryan Clark, a member of the
Virginia Tech marching band. He was
killed trying to help the first victim.

took a closer look at tank- car safety
this week.

An average of 75- trains pass
through Roanoke every day... many
carrying chemicals and other hazardous
materials.

In classes sponsored by Norfolk
Southern and DuPont, 150- first
responders learned about tank- car-
valves and fittings and how to assess
damage and make minor repairs.

Work crews are very close to punching
through with a second, larger, drill
into the mine cavity where they think
the 6 men are trapped.

This new hope follows a discouraging
day in which a narrow hole drilled more
than 18-hundred-feet into the earth

yielded no sounds of life and barely
any oxygen.

Once this 9-inch bit does break
through, a high-resolution camera on
loan from the miltary will be lowered
to check for any signs of life.

While officials are nowhere near
throwing in the towel--

men in relation to an aggravated
assault early Friday morning.

Officers were called to the
intersection of Market Street and Salem
Avenue shortly before 1:30.

There they found Tony Webb, who
is 44, beaten and lying in the
intersection.

He was taken to Carilion Roanoke
Memorial Hospital.

Police charged Benjamin Boitnott
and Thomas Sluder, both 26-years-old
and of Roanoke, with aggravated
assault.

is investigating a shooting that
happened Thursday at King's Mill
Trailer Park in Ridgeway.

About seven people were inside a
mobile home when someone fired at it
while driving through the park.

The vehicle then fled the scene.

Lula Mae Moore of Stoneville,
North Carolina was wounded and is in
critical condition at Martinsville
Memorial Hospital.

The gunfire also damaged three
vehicles and a second mobile home.

today. There's a 20% chance of a
shower or isolated thunderstorm this
afternoon thanks to some low level
moisture and energy crossing the state.
Highs this weekend are forecast around
85 to 90 degrees. For once the record
books won't be threatened, and more
importantly, the humidity will be
lower! So expect a more comfortable
day with light winds. Mostly clear to

the middle 60s. The extended forecast

calls for a few fronts to cross the
region next week, however, there won't
be many opportunities for rain.
Thursday and Friday look the best right
now with about a 30% chance of showers.

glimpse of these Corsac foxes in
action, you'll have to pay them a visit
either early in the morning or late in
the evening.

That's because-- as you can
tell-- they love to sleep.

The foxes came all the way from
the San Diego Zoo.

Mill Mountain is just the second
zoo in the country to have the rare
animals.
