Jonathan Utin entered a guilty
plea in a Christiansburg courtroom this
morning

a 15- year sentence in Ohio for raping
a young girl there.

Only recently was he returned to
stand trial here in western virginia.

The charges in Montgomery County
date back to 1970. Utin was in his
second year as a teacher... the victim
was eleven years old at the time of the

first sexual contact.

The prosecutor said the abuse
continued about once a week, for at
least three more years. Today, Utin
pleaded guilty to ten counts of rape,
and the judge sentenced him to serve 40
years in prison.

That sentence will run
concurrently with the prison sentence
he has already received in Ohio.

That means he will serve the 15
years in Ohio, before returning to
Virginia to serve an additional 25.

so with today's sentence, it appears
likely that he will spend the rest of
his life in prison.

gotten a verdict in the rape trial of
James Clark.

Clark guilty of six charges including
two counts of rape, forcible sodomy,
and adbuction.

He was found NOT guilty of seven
other charges including use of a
firearm in commission of a felony.

crews are drilling a third to try to
make contact with six men trapped deep
inside a utah coal mine.

in place.. ready to go".

The new hole will have to reach more
than 14-hundred feet below the surface
to an area where the men may have taken
refuge. They haven t been heard from

since last Monday's cave-in.. and this
hole may take six more days to drill.

A Cave Spring High School graduate has
died serving his country in
Afghanistan.

beret.

The army contacted his family
yesterday to tell them the 27-year-old
was been killed while on patrol.

Clowers graduated from Cave
Spring in 1998 and Virginia Tech in
2003 - he's survived by a wife and two
small children.

is such an important factor even people

Rockbridge is in a new district
that features only 5 members instead of

Region 3. They will be going through
all these changes with a new
quarterback as they have to replace the
departed Marcus Mayo.

Drew Carey was fooling around on set
and got hurt during the grocery game.

It's a game that has a turntable. He
did go to the hospital wher he was
checked out.

When he came back to rehearsal in
the afternoon, his hand was in a
splint.

The spokeswoman says Carey is "very
proudly showing people photos of the
injury on his iPhone."

band with lead singer David Lee Roth is
going on tour again for the first time
in 22 years.

The 25 date tour will kick off
September 27th in Charlotte. The
closest date to our area is September
29th in Greensboro.

The tour was supposed to begin
earlier this year, but that fell
through when Eddie Van Halen went into
rehab.

Roth was replaced with Sammy Hagar in
1985.
