a deal with federal prosecutors.

Quarterback will enter a guilty plea

within the next several days, rather
than go to trial.

Vick and three others last month,
charging them with running a
dog-fighting operation on property Vick
owns in eastern Virginia.

On July 26, Vick walked into the
federal courthouse in Richmond and
entered a plea of "not guilty."

The others did, too. Then the
legal landscape quickly started to
change.

Tony Taylor pled guilty July
30th, agreeing to cooperate with the
federal investigators.

Now Vick's other two
co-defendants, Purnell Peace and Quanis
Phillips, are expected to do the same
Thursday and Friday.

it - plea agreement or trial - Michael
Vick's marketing and endorsement life
is over.

But I wouldn't be so quick to say
he's done as an NFL player.

If he does go to prison - it's
almost guaranteed that he will have
another shot at the NFL when he gets
out. The current players in the league
have all had Vick's back during this
ordeal and there are certainly teams
out there who without a doubt would be
willing to take a chance on him.

play if you're in prison and the
pending plea from Vick is likely why
the NFL is still taking a wait and see
attititude on Vick.

Simply put - there is no need to
suspend a player who will be in a
federal penitentiary.

If Vick enteres a plea and gets a
prison sentence then the NFL would most
likely suspend Vick when his time is up
and he attempts to return to the league
- much like they did with former Ravens
and current Browns running back Jamal

Robin Reed in the SkyTracker 7 Forecast
Center. Hotter weather is on the way.
By Wednesday and Thursday, a large
ridge will take charge, boosting
temperatures into the upper 90s to near
100. Some areas may even break records.
Friday, the ridge will retreat to the
west, dropping temperatures back to
"normal" August values. With the heat
comes partly sunny skies and limited
rain chances. In fact, there's no
decent chance of showers until late

this weekend and into next week. Even
then, isolated showers at best.
TUESDAY NIGHT: Clear and comfortable.
Low: 60 WEDNESDAY: Sunny & HOT! High:
99 Hotter weather is on the way. By

fire in Southeast Roanoke is sending a
cloud of thick smoke over the city.

Crews are still near the
corner of Dale Avenue and 6th Street.

The two story home caught
fire around 5:30.

A neighbor smelled smoke
and called 9-1-1. That same neighbor
told News-7 that the house had been
abandoned for about 6 months.

There have been no
reported injuries, but several streets
in the area are closed.

Lake today share a common bond.

served during the Battle of Iwo Jima
gather regularly at the Dairy Queen
near Westlake.

Today, they were joined by David
Laird, a petty officer second class who
is currently on leave from the USS Iwo
Jima.

He recently read about the
veterans group, and decided to bring
them caps bearing the ship's name.

six are now in their 80s, and say they

under First Year Head Coach Jim Reid.

But there were some positives to
take out of the end of the season for
V-M-I. The Keydets lost 4 of their
final 5 ballgames by 6 points or less.

2 under Coach Reid is to win the close
games at the end.

2006, the Giles Spartans are
understandably rebuilding their
football team this summer.

The Spartans lost 75 percent of
their backfield and most of their
offense line, so to compensate the
