41- year- old Clarence Wayne
Patty admitted accessing child
pornography websites and downloading
illegal images, but yesterday family
and friends testified that he had
turned his life around since his arrest

in late 2005.

Yesterday, he was sentenced to 60
years in prison, suspended after he
serves seven.

battle.

The group took the issue to court

The army contacted his family
yesterday to tell them the 27-year-old
was killed while on patrol.

Clowers graduated from Cave
Spring in 1998.

Even years later- his football

evening about a mile-and-a-half
southeast of Alleghany Regional
Hospital in Low Moor.

are in danger.

More than 30 Forest
Service and prison inmate firefighters
are working to contain the fire, but

break in the heat today, as highs reach
the upper 80s and low 90s. By Wednesday
and Thursday, a large ridge will take
charge, boosting temperatures into the
upper 90s to near 100. Some areas may
even break records. Friday, the ridge
will retreat to the west, dropping
temperatures back to "normal" August
values. With the heat comes partly
sunny skies and limited rain chances.
In fact, there's no decent chance of
showers until late this weekend and
into next week. Even then, isolated
