January 2007 This morning Andrew Washburn
entered an Alford plea on several
charges, including abduction and rape.

That means he acknowedged there
was plenty of evidence against him...
however he did not admit to guilt.

As a part of the deal... two gun
charges were dropped.

In late January... Washburn
abducted a woman from a parking lot in
downtown Clifton Forge.

He then took her to a remote area
in Botetourt County where he raped her.

THE BLUE CHIPS LOST THE BATTLE FOR
13-THOUSAND...

FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE APRIL - THE
DOW DIPPED BELOW THAT PSYCHOLOGICALLY

IMPORTANT MILESTONE..

BUT VETERAN TRADERS SAY, IN THE END, IT
S JUST A NUMBER

SOT-Joe Benanti, NYSE Floor Trader: I

think 13k might be a short term

psychological point for people to hold
onto.

BUT YOU CAN T DENY IT S BEEN QUITE A
JOURNEY. IT TOOK THE DOW JUST 12 WEEKS
TO

MAKE THE JUMP FROM 13 THOUSAND IN APRIL
TO 14 THOUSAND IN JULY.

(STANDUP - NYSE)

BUT - IN JUST A MONTH S TIME, THE DOW
HAS GIVEN BACK THOSE THOUSAND POINTS,
AS

THE SUBPRIME MORTGAGE MESS AND CREDIT
CRUNCH BEGIN TO PUT THE BRAKES ON THE

ECONOMY.

SOT- Sam Stovall, Chief Investment

Strategist, Standard and Poor s: Every

bull market since 1970 has seen at
least one 10-plus percent correction
within

it. We have not had one since this bull
market was acknowledged in may of

2003. So I think we're overdue.

THERE WAS SOME ENCOURAGING NEWS,
INFLATION APPEARS TO BE UNDER WRAPS
GIVING

THE FEDERAL RESERVE SOME ROOM TO CUT
INTEREST RATES.

SOT-Stovall: They're looking for the

fed to begin lowering the short term,
or

fed funds rate in September, rather
than waiting until the first half of
2008.

(10:31:29)

EXPERTS SAY INVESTORS NEED TO SEE SOME
STABILITY IN THE MARKETS BEFORE THEY'LL

JUMP BACK IN... SO STOCKS MAY STILL
HAVE FURTHER TO FALL

SOT-Benanti: I don t think you want to

try and pick the bottom we might have,

we might be in it, we don t know it.
But to try to pick it is sometimes
fools

play.

THE BEST ADVICE, EXPERTS SAY SIT TIGHT
UNTIL WALL STREET S ROCKY RIDE FINDS

CALMER GROUND. AC, CBS NEWS, NYSE

Despite failed previous attempts,
the mint today unveiled its latest
dollar coin.

The head of the Mint hopes the coin
will not only help wean people off the
dollar bill, but also educate them
about U.S. history.

The Jefferson dollar was previewed
today at the Jefferson Memorial.

A Gallup poll last month found that
nearly everybody knew that

Washington was the first president, but
fewer than a-third could name Thomas
Jefferson as the third president.

The vending machine industry is

hoping the coin takes off. It loses an
estimated one billion dollars a year to
paper jams.
