control over large retail developments
and may be adopting its own so-called
'big box' ordinance.
They haven't decided yet what
constitutes a "big box" store, but they
did ask city staff to start coming up
with some design standards that a
developer would have to meet before
they could start building.

If they meet all the requirements, the

recalling millions of toys that could
be hazardous to children.

recall in two weeks.
The toys being recalled have
small magnets that children can choke
on. and other toys contain lead paint.
The affected toys.. over seven
million playsets, including Polly
Pocket dolls and Batman action figures,
as well as one and a half million die
cast cars.
All of the toys were made in
China.
Officials say no injuries have
been reported.
A lead poisoning specialist
recommends children receive blood tests
if they've had one of the toys for over
a month.

temperatures over 100. Now, some of
that heat is heading our way. Records
will possibly be set this afternoon
(and Thursday) as highs head back to

front cross the area Friday with only
an isolated shower or two at best. The
boundary will drop temperatures back

not far from his home. His landlord
also told authorities Bowman threatened
to kill a Virginia mobile home mover
because of a dispute over his trailer.
But after reviewing the evidence
once again earlier this year, the
special task force specifically created
to solve the Short murders has some new
questions and some new names.

the tragedy will help the community
recover.

The book was compiled by Tech
Professor Roland Lazenby and seven
journalism students.
It's made up of interviews,

28th and a portion of the proceeds will
go to a fund for the victim's families.

its doors and left its workers jobless.

control over large retail developments
and may be adopting its own so-called
'big box' ordinance.
They haven't decided yet what
constitutes a "big box" store, but they
did ask city staff to start coming up
with some design standards that a
developer would have to meet before
they could start building.

an ordinance that would give developers
incentives for meeting those standards
... if they meet all the requirements,
the project would not have to go
through the usual public hearing
process.
While some localities define a
'big box' store as being over
50-thousand square feet, Lynchburg
