The Virginia Department of

Earlier this year Virginia
lawmakers killed a bill that would have
required all public and private
colleges to install carbon monoxide

leak.

The year before, lawmakers killed
a separate bill that would have
required detectors in all rental

Alleghany County Saturday afternoon
threatened an apartment complex, and
sent two firefighters to the hospital.

Emergency crews from ten

Dolly- Ann- Apartments near Covington
around 1:30.

A stand of pine trees caught fire
and sent flames more than 60 feet into
the air.

The fire melted vinyl siding on
two units, causing an estimated 35-
thousand dollars of damage.

One firefighter suffered a
shoulder injury. Another was hit in
the face with a nozzle. Investigators

believe a burning cigarette ignited the
fire.

Witnesses say residents of the

The Ivy Lane neighborhood does
not have fire hydrants, so crews from
seven different fire companies were

There's no final word on the

So this date has been highly

Everyone is talking about
returning to normal.

And that means returning to

He decided to finish his studies
a week-and-a-half before the end of

September Last year, Randolph Macon Women's

Hundreds of students protested
the change....They boycotted classes

A group of students even filed
two lawsuits to try to delay the
decision to admit men.

A judge eventually dismissed
those suits.....

And in December, the school
finalized the transition by changing
the name to Randolph College.

Friday In fact, all the visual signs on

to normal.

As students were getting settled
in, the Highty Tighties were practicing

We spoke with Kenny Thompson who
is a Junior this year.

He said it was a little weird
being back on campus, but he's looking
forward to getting back into the swing

of things.

Other that finishing up a couple
of assignments to complete his grades,
April 16th was the was day he attended
class.

It was certainly a rough way to
end his sophomore year.

Three other students are
improving and are said to be conscious

They were all in the same unit at

The ceremony lasted just under an
