to claim the 53 pit bulls seized from
Michael Vick's property in Surry
County.

If no one comes forward, the
animals could be euthanized.

Last month, Federal prosecutors
filed court documents to condemn the
pit bulls seized in April as part of
the investigation into dogfighting on
Vick's property.

A federal judge will make the
final decision on the dogs' fate.

this, but it looks like we may actually
cool down - at least that's what the
long range forecast models are pointing
to by next weekend. In the meantime,
it's going to be hot and humid! The
rest of the week (and through the
weekend) expect highs in the upper 80s
and low 90s... at least. Thursday,
Friday and Saturday look partly sunny
with only about a 20% chance of showers
or storms in the afternoon. We need a
good soaking rain, but that's simply
not in the cards. With that said, any
storm that develops the next few days
may contain heavy rain, but we need a
steadier, widespread rain; not a storm
that blows into town for 15 minutes and
leaves. We'll keep watching TITAN Radar
and hoping for the best. Today, a
stationary boundary will remain draped
across the area. This could act as a
zone of convergence, popping a few

showers or storms this afternoon.
Nothing looks severe right now. An
onshore southeast flow will keep a fair

central Virginia had a busy day
yesterday following Tuesday's severe
thunderstorms.

Public works employees spent the
day cutting up and removing dozens of
trees and heavy limbs that blocked area
roads.

Several older, larger trees had
been snapped off at the trunk by
straight-line winds up to 70 miles per
hour.

Power has been restored to all but

That's what officials at Randolph
College are hoping.

Jordan Smith trust .

Smith donated the money back in
1928.

The school wants to see what the
exact terms of Smith's will are.

Randolph College is on
accreditation warning because of its
financial situation ... going co-ed was
one way to help.

But right now the art collection
is the biggest asset.

It's worth about 40 million
dollars.

The school is looking at sharing
some of the art with other
institutions, in return for money.

after a crash Wednesday afternoon.

Virginia State Police say Julia
"Kay" Johnson was driving on route 40
when she crossed the center lane,
overcorrected and went over the
embankment into a tree.

Johnson died on the scene.

Police say she would have

seatbelt.

reports yesterday recommending several
changes and improvements to safety
measures on campus.

And now many are wondering about
the state's review of the April 16th
tragedy.

The independent panel studying
the tragedy now plans to release ITS
report a week from today in Richmond.

Unlike the university's internal
review, the panel's report WILL focus
on the events of April 16th...

Leo this morning. You'll never believe
this, but it looks like we may actually
cool down - at least that's what the
long range forecast models are pointing

to by next weekend. In the meantime,
it's going to be hot and humid! The
rest of the week (and through the
weekend) expect highs in the upper 80s
and low 90s... at least. Thursday,
Friday and Saturday look partly sunny
with only about a 20% chance of showers
or storms in the afternoon. We need a
good soaking rain, but that's simply
not in the cards. With that said, any
storm that develops the next few days
may contain heavy rain, but we need a
steadier, widespread rain; not a storm
that blows into town for 15 minutes and
leaves. We'll keep watching TITAN Radar
and hoping for the best. Today, a
stationary boundary will remain draped
across the area. This could act as a
zone of convergence, popping a few
showers or storms this afternoon.
Nothing looks severe right now. An
onshore southeast flow will keep a fair
amount of clouds around today, mainly
for the Roanoke Valley and points east.
