COMM #-1 rest of the week (and through the
weekend) expect highs in the upper 80s
and low 90s... at least. Thursday,
Friday and Saturday look partly sunny
with only about a 20% chance of showers
or storms in the afternoon. We need a
good soaking rain, but that's simply
not in the cards. With that said, any
storm that develops the next few days
may contain heavy rain, but we need a
steadier, widespread rain; not a storm
that blows into town for 15 minutes and
leaves. We'll keep watching TITAN Radar
and hoping for the best. Today, a
stationary boundary will remain draped
across the area. This could act as a
zone of convergence, popping a few
showers or storms this afternoon.
Nothing looks severe right now. An
onshore southeast flow will keep a fair
amount of clouds around today, mainly
for the Roanoke Valley and points east.

An english study of twins has found
that nearly 80 percent of children's
tendency to avoid unfamiliar foods was
inherited.
This avoidance may have had an
evolutionary advantage in preventing
exposure to potentially toxic foods but
now it can be a hindrance to proper
nutrition.
The study authors added that repeatedly
offering foods to children can make the
foods more familiar, and eventually
even liked.
(wipevo)
It turns out cardio workouts build
stronger hearts in women than they do
men, and finding out why may lead to
improved treatment strategies for heart
disease.
Experimenting with mice, researchers
found that exercise allowed females to
experience a 20-percent decrease in a
protein usually found in people with
heart disease.
Males enjoyed no similar benefit.
(wipevo)
A new study on sex and seniors finds
that many older people are still
performing -- and talking about --
intimate acts that would make their
grandchildren blush.
Nearly three-quarters of those in the
57 to 64 age group say they're sexually
active and more than a quarter of 75-
to 85-year-olds.
Most say they are intimate with a
partner several times a month.

In sports, the U-S men's basketball
team is off to a fast
start in its quest for an Olympic berth
Wednesday night in Las
Vegas.
The Americans opened play in the
FIBA (FEE'-buh) Americas
tournament by routing Venezuela 112-69
as Carmelo Anthony and
Michael Redd each scored 17 points.
The Americans face the U.S.
Virgin
Islands in the final game tonight.
Venezuela will face Canada today.
If the Americans finish first or
second in this 10-team
tournament, they automatically earn a
berth in next year's Beijing
Olympics.
Now let's check the scoreboards.

COMM #-1 it's going to be hot and humid! The
rest of the week (and through the
