flooding this town has seen in nearly a

a flotilla of boats

We estimate at least 1000 people are
out of their homes. In one county

there have been an estimated 700 homes

In Mansfield, Ohio the water is gone,

And Wisconsin declared a state of

Leo this morning. You'll never believe
this, but it looks like we may actually
cool down - at least that's what the
long range forecast models are pointing
to by next weekend. In the meantime,
it's going to be hot and humid! The
rest of the week (and through the
weekend) expect highs in the upper 80s
and low 90s... at least. Thursday,
Friday and Saturday look partly sunny
with only about a 20% chance of showers
or storms in the afternoon. We need a
good soaking rain, but that's simply
not in the cards. With that said, any
storm that develops the next few days
may contain heavy rain, but we need a
steadier, widespread rain; not a storm
that blows into town for 15 minutes and
leaves. We'll keep watching TITAN Radar
and hoping for the best. Today, a

stationary boundary will remain draped
across the area. This could act as a
zone of convergence, popping a few
showers or storms this afternoon.
Nothing looks severe right now. An
onshore southeast flow will keep a fair
amount of clouds around today, mainly
for the Roanoke Valley and points east.

Not only can it help people lose a
dramatic amount of weight......
Scientists now say it can add many

Annette Glogover weighed 315 pounds and
suffered from diabetes, high blood

pressure and high cholesterol.

(VO)(NEW YORK, NY)

Here's Annette two years after stomach
shrinking surgery.

She shed 165 pounds and her illness
disappeared.

(SOT-Annette Glogover/Had Weight Loss

Surgery)

"EVERYTHING IS NORMAL IN FACT MY BLOOD
PRESSURE TENDS TO BE LOW NOW."

And according to a study in the New
England Journal of Medicine she'll
likely

live longer.

Researchers compared obese patients who
had surgery to those who didn't.

(GFX)

In the surgery group there were
significantly fewer deaths.

Diabetes deaths fell 92 percent.

Deaths from cancer dropped 60 percent
and heart disease deaths fell 56
percent.

(STANDUP: Dr. Sean Kenniff/CBS
NEWS/Miami, FL)

The procedure is not without risks.

A small number of patients have
complications from surgery.

Some have trouble digesting certain
foods and others develop vitamin

deficiencies.

(NATS)

But N-Y-U Medical Center's Doctor
George Fielding says the benefits
outweigh

the risks.

Not only did he perform Annette's
procedure... he underwent the surgery
as

well... losing over 1-hundred pounds.

(SOT-Dr. George Fielding/NYU Medical

Center)

"THE RISK OF THEM DYING HAVING THE
SURGERY IS MINISCULE COMPARED TO THE

CERTAINTY THAT MANY OF THESE PEOPLE
WILL DIE PREMATURELY OF THEIR DISEASE."

Having more years with his family is
why Jesse Gross had the procedure.

Just ()years ago he weighed 428 pounds.

(SOT-Jesse Gross/Had Weight Loss

Surgery)

"FOR ME TO HAVE LOST 270 POUNDS (vo)
IT'S A MIRACLE." "IT GAVE ME MY LIFE

BACK."

And most likely..... A much longer life
as well.

Doctor Sean Kenniff, CBS NEWS.

He's the McDonald's franchise ownwer

and its special sauce some 40 years ago
in Pennsylvania.

Deligatti was the guest of honor
yesterday at the opening of a
seven-thousand square foot Big Mac

And the rest is fast food history--

Some McDonald's customers waited in
line all night in the rain for the new

That's because the first 100 people to

pass through the door get a Big Mac a
week, for a year.

OQ=...NEWS 7 SPORTS." << Pittsylvania County has long been
(END SOT) known for its tobacco and textiles and

occasionally its Tech football
products. But never has the county
meant so much to the Hokie Nation.

George Washington high school's
brother tandem of Cam and Orion Martin
will likely be in the starting lineup
on defense on opening day, while fellow
GW Eagle Kenny Lewis will see plenty of
time at tailback.

Add to the mix, starting fullback
Carlton Weatherford from nearby
Tunstall high in Dry Fork and you can
see why the county is bursting with
pigskin pride.

CARLTON WEATHERFORD

KENNY LEWIS

Danville's population has slipped

to 45 thousand, but its a far cry from
Mayberry. Still - Lewis's point is
well taken - no one would expect four
possible starters on a top 10 team to
come from an area this size.

ORION MARTIN

CAM MARTIN

BUD FOSTER

Weatherford's case is extremely
impressive in that he persevered as a
walk-on and through a knee injury to
earns his starting job. Mike Stevens
