GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening everybody and

welcome to yet another season of Friday
Football Extra - here on Your Hometown
Station.

As you hopefully saw scrolled on
the cake -this is season number 24 -
and appropriately we begin it on the
24th day of August.

Who would have thought that back
in 1984 when this sho began that there
would be two weeks of play before Labor
Day even arrives.

Tonight - we've have the
highlights of nine game for you from
Narrows to Llow Moor to Lynchburg.

GRAPHIC=AMHERST/BROOKVILLE

And we begin just outside of
Lynchburg in Campbell County where the
reigning Division Four state champs
from Amherst County took on Seminole
rival Brookville on opening night.

*CG ffeloc Campbell Co.
Brookville vs. Amherst Co. The Lancers loaded up the bus and
the cars and made the 30 minute drive
to Brookville for their 2007 coming out
party.

Brookville's Alec Thompson will
try to exploit the Lancers, but Peter
Rose won't let that happen on either
side of the ball. He picks off the
pass and put the rock back in the hands
of his offense.

The Virginia Tech bound senior
than converts the turnover into points
with the six yard TD run and it's
7-to-zip after the kick.

More Amherst and more Rose. This
time he scoots to his left and takes it
in for his second touchdown on the
night. This score is from 18 yards out
and it's 14-to-nothing.

Now in the second - a Rose by any
color just wouldn't be the same. Rose
will fake a handoff, slide through the
traffic at the line and take this one
70 yards all the way down to the 13
yard line before he brought down.
*CG ffefinal Amherst That set up Anthony Fletcher's 42 handoff to Jon Moore who caps off the Brookville drive with another TD. The Lancers 7 roll over the Brookville Bees 42 to 7.

GRAPHIC=NORTHSIDE/PULASKI Back when Friday Football Extra

began - Northside and Pulaski County
were two of the top dogs year in and
year out in the old Roanoke Valley
district.

But last year the Vikings were 1
and 9 and the Cougars weren't much
better at 2 and 8.

Tonight - the two tried to keep
their focus out of the rear view mirror
and start a new as they met in North
Roanoke County.

ENG#=3 VO-NAT

*CG ffeloc Roanoke Co.
Pulaski Co. vs. Northside The Northside band was pumped up
as a capacity crowd was on hand for the
opener at Vikings stadium.

We pick it up in the third with
Pulaski on top 7-to-nothing and the
Cougars defense ready to cash in.
Brady Craft's pass is picked off by
Pulaski's Madela Adams, who manages to
stay on his feet and pick up 15 yards
on the return.

The Cougars would try to add to
their lead, but Nubian Peak fumbles and
Andrew Mitchell recovers.

Northside would try to funnel
that momentum into a score as Philip
Scott scampers up the field through a
nice hole picking up decnet yardage.

The Vikes' Craft would then look
to pass back across the field to Isaiah
Martin. He will make the catch and
head to the sideline for 10 yards
before being dragged down by Zane
Quesenberry.

Northside's Dustin Phelps would
pull the Vikes closer to the endzone as
he gallops to the right, splits some
would be tacklers and goes 30 yards for

a Northside touchdown - tying the game
at 7-all. *CG ffefinal Pulaski Co.
21 Pulaski would answer with Seth Northside Parris banging in from the two to put 19 the Cougars on top.

The Cougars win it 21-to-19.

ENG#=4 VO-NAT

*CG ffeloc Bassett
Carroll Co. vs. Bassett The home side of Ed Bassett
stadium was full tonight for the season
opener.

With six and half minutes left in
the first - Justin Woods will takes the
reverse and cruise in for the 28 yard

score to put the home team on top
7-to-nothing.

But Bassett was just getting
warmed up as Xavier Norman takes the
handoff from his 47 and he will kick it
straight to the zone - it's another
Bassett touchdown as the Bengals lead
it 20-to-nothing.

Now in the second quarter - the
Bengals will score with the pass as
Rashawn Woods hits number 21 Josh
McGill. This one originates from the
Bengals 45 and ends up in the endzone
as the lead balloons to the
28-to-nothing.

More Woods - as he and Tony
Womack connect on the 22 yard scoring
play making it look easy. The Bengals
now lead it 35-to-nothing. *CG ffefinal Carroll Co.
6 The Bassett defense also was Bassett stout as Travis Green is sacked by Chaz 41 Lineberger and Paris Ragan as Bassett
rolls to the 41-to-6 win.

Cave Spring vs. Alleghany Turnovers and penalties set the

Caveness will carry for the first down
on this play, but at the end of the run
the ball pops out and Keith Lilly will
come up with the recovery for the
Mounties as he scoops up the ball and
takes off down the sideline.

Alleghany would look to cash in
with Cory Pullin - who takes the snap
up the middle, bowls through the
Knights' secondary for a huge 24 yards
gain all the way down to the Cave
Spring 15 yard line.

From there Ryan Kessinger hooks
up with his big tight end Steven
Wilkes. He makes the catch, he's hit
at the two but rolls in for the score
and Alleghany leads by 7 with less than
two minutes left in the first.

Allghany isn't done either.
Kessinger rolls out and finds Josh
Jordan. He will make the catch and
take off to the tune of 48 yards. The
pitch and catch will set up another
score as he moves the ball to the

Knights' 8.

Kessinger rolls out and finds the
endzone untouched on the keeper to give
Alleghany a 14-to-nothing lead on Cave
Spring in the second quarter.

After a Cave Spring punt the
Knights defense would show some life.
