ENG#=1 VO-NAT

VO-NAT The hardest to fill positions

include math, science, special
education and elementary education
teachers.

So why are schools losing
teachers?

In Virginina.. teacher pay and
working conditions are the two largest
factors keeping teachers from sticking
with the job.

In fact teachers salaries in
Virignia rank 28th out of 51 in the U-S
and are about 5 thousand dollars less
than the national average of about 48
thousand dollars a year.

gear, some parents may choose to switch
the direction where their kids learn.

This school year, Hurt Park,
Lincoln Terrace, Forest Park, Garden
City and Addison Middle have to give
parents the choice if they want their
students to attend these schools.

That's because these five didn't
meet certain federal guidelines under
the No Child Left Behind Act.

<
Webb in the SkyTracker7 Forecast
Center. Evening showers and isolated
storms will diminish over the next few
hours. As a front crosses the area and
heads toward the coast, drier air will
push into the region. Expect clouds to
slowly erode overnight. Not as warm
tonight with lows forecast in the mid
60s. Watch for patchy fog by early
Monday morning. While some computer
models are hinting at a flare up shower
(20%) Monday afternoon, we'll paint a
mostly sunny forecast. The drier air
moving in should override any shower
chances. Highs are forecast in the
comfortable mid 80s. Tuesday through
Thursday are forecast mostly to partly
sunny with limited rain chances.
Temperatures will warm during this
period; as hot as the low 90s Wednesday
and Thursday. Another cold front makes
a move toward the area Friday with a
50% chance of showers. This boundary
will do a number on the late week heat.
Highs Friday through Sunday are
forecast in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Dozens of pooches and their
two-legged companions hit the pool
today for a good cause.

This is the annual 'Dog Swim,'
hosted by the Montgomery County Humane

Society.

A six dollar donation was an all
day pass for these animals to run,
jump, and play in the water.

Some enjoyed the experience more
than others.
