With time running out and no room left
to scramble, Michael Vick will walk

into court later this morning and plead
guilty to federal dogfighting charges.

On Friday the star quarterback filed a
written plea with the court, admitting

to taking part in an illegal
dogfighting ring known as "Bad Newz
Kennels" that

bred dogs to fight and killed them when
they lost.

(SOT JEFF SCHULTZ/ATLANTA

JOURNAL-CONSTITUTION): "HE'S HIDING
BEHIND WORDS

RIGHT NOW. IT WAS A VERY COWARDLY WAY
OUT I'M SORRY TO SAY, BECAUSE HE WAS A

VERY COURAGEOUS ATHLETE ON THE FIELD."

The decision to plead guilty came after
his 3 co-defendents cut their own

deals with prosecutors that would
include their testifying against Vick.

Susan Roberts/Stand-up/Richmond, Va.

The plea agreement calls for a
sentencing range of 12 to 18 months,
but the

judge is not bound to any
recommendation and could sentence Vick
to as much as

5 years in prison.

Analysts say this is a deal he had to
take.

(SOT RIKKI KLIEMAN/CBS NEWS LEGAL

ANALYST 101600): "CONSIDER THE FIASCO
IF

THERE WERE A TRIAL AND THE EVIDENCE OF
THE TREATMEN OF THESE ANIMALS - KILLING

THEM BY DROWNING, BY HANGING, BY
ELECTROCUTION - CAME OUT DAY AFTER DAY.

THAT'S NOT SOMETHING MICHAEL VICK
WANTS."

By avoiding a gambling conviction, Vick
is keeping a glimmer of hope alive of

playing again. But it won't be anytime
soon.

((VIDEO FROM: NFL NETWORK)

After he serves his sentence, the N-F-L
will levy their own punishment.

(SOT MIKE

FREEMAN/SPORTSLINE.COM-214510-ALREADY
FONTED): "IF HE GOT LESS THAN

ONE YEAR SUSPENSION FROM THE NFL, IT
WOULD BE LIKE CHRISTMAS FOR MIKE VICK

EARLY"

But before he can even try to piece
together his future, Vick will have to

deal with a present that has already
taken football away. The next thing to

go will be his freedom.

Shealor are the proud owners of Home
Team Tie Dye.

They work out of their garage
making tie dye hokie shirts,
sweatshirts and even kids clothing.

They got the idea after making
tie dye clothing for their kids for a
Hokie football game last year.

The fans couldn't get enough of
the little outfits and wanted to buy
the clothing on the spot.

They now sell it at the games and
on their website.

They're even hoping to bring it
