shoot with Shell.

morning, someone called the bank inside
the Salem Wal-mart, saying a bomb would
explode if money was not wired to a
certain location.

The Wal-Mart in Fairlawn
also got a bomb threat about a half
hour later.

Police say someone called a
Wal-Mart in Newport Rhode Island
demanding employees wire 10-thousand
dollars into an account -- the store
transferred teh money.

The account has been identifed,
and police are looking for whoever made
the call.

No bombs were found in this store
either.

look up for the Martinsville-Henry
County Rescue Squad, it's dealing with
another big blow.

out of service indefinately.

down after discovering several
violations.

The squad reopened for business,
but last night city and county leaderss
agreed there's still too many problems
that need to be dealt with before the
volunteer operation can run

the rescue squad has failed to answer
more than 60 percent of its emergency
calls.

tonight's game with Wilmington knowing
a win over the Blue Rocks or a loss by
Myrtle Beach would put the team in the
playoffs.

Myrtle Beach won in 11 innings,
but that was nothing compared to what
Salem did. The Avs got needed 14
innings but they beat the Blue Rocks 7
to 3 to earn a spot in the playoffs.

Salem also will be home for its
final homestand of the season this
coming Friday through Monday. The three
game set with Lynchburg will feature at

Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament

died in January of 2005 after a 13 year
battle with cancer.

Scruggs spent 38 years with
NASCAR and his wife Jackie is making

In the past two years - the
Foundation has awarded 14 scholarships
to students from all walks of life
ffrom high schools in southwest and
central Virginia.
