Mr. Bush: Hurricane Katrina broke
through the levees, broke hearts, but
didn t affect the spirit of a lot of
citizens.
But many are demonstating that spirit
by protesting the slow
recovery. They want more federal
funding ..and fast.
Hours earlier, bells tolled across the

City leaders know a mountain of
challenges still lie ahead.

It s sad that people are going to
their graves unidentified as this city

Despite billions of dollars in aid,
public services lag. Only
60-percent of the population has
returned. Political corruption
continues and the murder rate is the

welcome to the midweek ticker.
Frank Beamer begins his
21st season as Virginia Tech's head

everyone would like some answers to,
namely the kicking game and offensive
line.

decided to play his baseball next
season at Winthrop University in the
Big South.

season, but played much of his junior
year with a strained bicep this past
spring.
He had a very productive summer
playing baseball in the Commonwealth
Games for the area's Senior American
Legion team that made it to the state
finals and for a showcase team in North
Carolina
O'Brien is in his senior season
at Hidden Valley.

But that's apparently not the case.
Outgoing Presidential aide Karl Rove
got a special sendoff from his
colleagues at the White House today.
His last official day is actually
Friday, but that didn't stop Rove's
colleagues from literally WRAPPING up
his career and his car with plastic
wrap.
But the White House pranksters
didn't stop there - they also mounted
stuffed toys and signs reading "King
