homicide trial will try again this
morning to reach a verdict.

accused of giving his model, Marion
Franklin, a lethal dose of morphine
back in 2003.

Closing arguments wrapped up
yesterday morning. The jury spent most
of the afternoon asking to review
several pieces of evidence, the
morphine bottle, a video tape, pictures
of Franklin, and her death certificate.

Three charges of defiling a
corpse were dismissed at the request of
the prosecution...that leaves eight
charges against Shell.

short last weekend were remembered a
funeral service in Clifton Forge.

A large crowd gathered for the
graveside service at Mountain View
Cemetery for Britney, Amber and Morgan
Sims.

The mourners included many of the
girls' classmates from the schools they
attended in Alleghany County.

The service celebrated the
sister's lives, and the memories that
family members say they hope will
endure.

Yesterday, one of the ministers
who lead the service urged the mourners
to put aside their anger, and "reflect

blamed for the LATEST carbon monoxide
incident in Blacksburg.

A resident of the Terpence
Apartment called for help around three
yesterday morning after a carbon
monoxide alarm went off.

Fire crews evacuated two
apartments, and the people who lived in
those units went to a hotel.

Nobody was hurt or taken to the
hospital.

*CG locator Blacksburg This comes less than two weeks August 19 after high carbon monoxide levels at :15 another Blacksburg apartment complex
sent more than 20 people to the
hosptial.

Earlier this week, UVA Medical
center sent the last two victims in
THAT incident back home.

All eyes will be on Lane Stadium
for the Hokies showdown with East
Carolina.

yesterday, it had the feel of a game
week.

The preparations... getting
Worsham Field ready for play
tomorrow... all signs pointed to a

normal season opener.

But outside of the stadium was a
different story.

ESPN crews were setting up for
live, national coverage not just of the
game itself, but also the flagship
pre-game show... ESPN GAMEDAY.

The attention given to
tomorrow's contest is proof that after
the tragic events of April 16th... the
Hokie Spirit has been adopted by so
many other universities and, really,
the entire nation.

without bond.

He's charged with murdering his
wife.

VO-NAT Thomas White made his first court

appearance yesterday afternoon since
his arrest Wednesday.

Police say he killed his wife,
Delores.

a family member asked them to make sure
everything was okay.

When they got to Ruddell Road,
they found Delores dead with a single
gunshot wound to the head.

Police have charged White with
first degree murder.

His preliminary hearing is set

Road caught fire around 5 Tuesday
evening.

But no one noticed the flames
until the fire had taken off.

By the time it was out, the
building and everything inside were
destroyed.

No word yet on what caused
the fire.
