GRAPHIC=FFE Good evening folks and welcome to

your Labor Day weekend. Thanks so much
for carving out a piece of your Holiday
weekend to spend with all us here at
Friday Football Extra.

Last week we kicked off the 2007
season - but a number teams were still
on sideline warming up. Tonight, all
but a handful of teams were in action,
but so too was Mother Nature and a
wicked batch of lightning that messed
with a number of games right here in
the Roanoke Valley.

In the next half hour - we will
bring you the highlights of 13 games,
christen a brand new stadium, meet our
first player of the week and get
someone registered to win that all
expenses paid trip to the ACC
Championship game in our Dr. Pepper fan

We get started in Daleville where
the Lord Botetourt Cavaliers - a

its resurgence after the folks in Salem
- hosted the Spartans tonight in one of
several Blue Ridge - River Ridge

matchups.

Salem vs. Lord Botetourt Weather was a factor in this game :00 as the contest was delayed 30 minutes
due to lightning. That went away, but
the rain would persist in Botetourt
County.

Salem's Cory Gaines was getting
involved in the offense early and often
tonight as he hauls in the 34 yard
scoring strike from Nick Leftwich on
this play. Salem is on top 13-to-2 in
the second quarter.

On Botetourt following possession
- the Cavs would force Salem into a
rarity as the Spartans give up a big
play. Emory Straub hooks up with Casey
Weddle on the 70 yard catch and run.
The Cavs are right back in the game as
they cut the Salem lead to 13-to-9
midway through the second.

However, the Cavs could not hold
onto the momentum. In a second quarter
packed with points - Jonathan Clemo
takes the ensuing kickoff and promptly
bursts Botetourt's balloon. Clemo will

take it 96 yards the other way just
outrunning the Cavs special teams
members. It's 20-to-9 Salem. *CG ffefinal Salem
44 Just before the half - Jonathan Lord Botetourt Murphy will cap a 23 point Spartans' 9 explosion with a 38 yard field goal as
Salem rolls to the 44 to 9 win.

Hidden Valley vs. William Byrd And this thing was just like the :00 NASCAR season as rain plagued it from
the start with a number of lightning

delays.

In the first quarter - the
Titans' Alan Castro will throw one to
his left, but Byrd's Landon Johnson
picks off the pass and makes a nice
return for the Terriers.

That would set up a Byrd TD - as
number 34, Brent Hubbard goes in easily
off of the right side to make it a
14-to-nothing Byrd lead.

The Terriers would expand that
advantage in the second quarter as
Tyler Snow takes the swing pass, and he
will show some speed and then finish
with some serious power. Byrd takes a
21-to-nothing lead.

With time running out in the
first half - Castro wil roll to his
left, but he will get stopped at one
with 6 seconds to play. *CG ffefinal Hidden Valley
7 The Titans got one more crack at William Byrd the endzone and David Turner wedges his 21 way in just before the half. to cut the SUSPENDED AT HALF lead to 21-to-7 at the half.

OQ=Friday Football Extra. << Peter Rose made sure that the

(END SOT) Amherst County wouldn't suffer a

letdown in their first game of
2-thousand and 7 after winning the
State Championship last year.

Rose accounted for 5 Touchdowns
on the Night, 3 on the Ground and 2
through the air and piled up 2 hundred
and 70 yards of Total Offense.

(ROSE BITE 2:44:07)

(ABELL BITE: 2:41:43)

Rose also got the job done on the
defensive Side of the ball intercepting
a pass to set up one of the Lancers
T-D's

(ABELL BITE 2:42:10)

The next level for Rose will be
at Virginia Tech where he has already
commited to play his college football

(ROSE 2:45:00)

(STANDUP: Peter's Work Ethic is a
family trait, his older Brother
Jonathan, who is a Freshman Tailback at
James Madison passed it on to him,
Peter will try and do the same to his
younger brother who is currently in the
Amherst County Pipeline.

(ROSE 2:45:46)

(ABELL 2:39:42)

Peter seems to be doing fine in

whatever role he's in. Grant Kittelson
