proof it's been going on for years.

know, and when did it know it?

problem dates back to 1999. It was
dealt with then only to resurface
several years later and tonight we're
getting an idea just how big this
latest infestation really is.

Patience is a good way to put it,
since students have been uprooted after
a rat infestation at Fairview
Elementary.

Parents say it's been a problem for
years now.

Memos provided by the school system
reveal during 2006, a teacher turned in
14 bottles of glue with the tops eaten
off of them. During that same year,
"one rat ran across a room during SOL

testing. That same memo indicates the
rats are being noticed regulary by
students. In another undated memo,
many teachers hear several large
animals running through the ceiling
during school hours.

We shared this information with
school board chairman David Carson.

into 2007.

For example, the principal reported
she pulled a large rat out of a trap at
the beginning of summer school.

By August, someone complained to the
Health Department. An inspection found
droppings, and several dead rats had
been recovered from the ceiling because
of poison that had been laid out.

During a followup visit last week,
inspectors found large number of rodent
droppings under cooking equipment.

They also found droppings under a
work table, in the dishwashing room,

and under an ice cream freezer.

Last week, the school system fired
the exterminator clamiming National
Exterminators out of Martinsville was
aware of the rodent infestation at
Fairview.

questioning two suspects who may have
vandalized Martinsville high school.

Around nine thirty last night, an
employee at the school called the cops
because there was spray paint on
several areas of the school.

When police got there, they saw
two juveniles running away.

Those two were caught later and

persistent ridge of high pressure will
keep our skies mostly clear for the
rest of the week. Overnight lows will
generally be comfortable in the low to
mid 60s, however, heat and humidity
will continue Thursday and Friday
afternoon as highs top out near 90. The
weekend is looking like a
split-decision with partly sunny skies
Saturday, but tropical rains "could"

found out this morning they won't have
a job next year.

at their Covington facility because
they are cutting costs, and it's
affecting 126 people.

The plant made up only 10 percent
of the company's total production.

A spokesperson said the facility

was too expensive for the company to
keep up, and it's more efficient to
move that production to its larger
plant in Indiana.

A-E-T Films makes flexible
plastic packaging, mostly for use in
the food industry.

The plant is expected to shut
down no later than March 31st 2008.

wrestler Chris Benoit suffered brain
damage from his years in the ring -
multiple concussions - that doctors say
could help explain why he killed his
wife, son and himself.

conducted by Julian Bailes of the
Sports Legacy Institute, show that
Benoit's brain was severely damaged and
that it resembled the brain of an 85
year old Alzheimer's patient.

Now, despite the results there is

concussions contributed to the
murder-suicide, but doctors say there
is no doubt the level of brain damage
Benoit had can cause depression and
irrational behavior.
