this morning that it'll shut by the end

this morning to explain WHY the plant

is closing.

The answer - the company is
cutting costs.

A company spokesperson tells me
the facility is too expensive to keep
up, and that it would be more efficient
to move that production to its larger
plant in Indiana.

The company has been looking for

sell the facility.

The closing is affecting 126
people in Covington area, workers like
Todd Smith.

third major plant closing in the
Alleghany County area in a little over
two years.

than 200 people out of work.

Last spring, Parker
Powertrain decided to close its plant
in Iron Gate. 145 people lost their

building in Roanoke County's Valley
Tech Park. Today, county leaders and
company officials gathered for a ribbon
cutting ceremony.

The company is investing
one-point two million dollars in new
equipment and other improvements, and
plans to double its workforce to 56
employees over the next year.

they contain excessive amounts of lead
paint.

Line sold around the same time.

And Big World toys, sold between

Virginia's Museum of the Confederacy.

satellite museums.

Two are planned near the
battlefields at Appomattox and
Chancellorsville... locations that
collectively attract as many as 700-
thousand visitors a year.

A third location will be
announced soon.

Artifacts will be divided by
themes... for instance, the uniform
Robert E. Lee wore to surrender will be
displayed in Appomattox.

The goal is to have the new
facilities built by 2011... the year
that will mark the 150th anniversary of
the fall of Fort Sumter.

fire.

The Cavs season opening loss to
Wyoming was a huge disappointment, but
Groh says critics shouldn't be so quick
to judge his team.

has been collecting donations from all
walks of life since April 16th - and
the sports world has played a huge role
is elevating the amount of the fund
into the millions.

This past weekend some members of
the Hokie Nation proved that there is
strength in numbers.

Suntrust Half Marathon 20 thousand runners hit the :00 streets of Virginia Beach in the Rock
N' Roll half marathon. 150 of the
runners were part of the Run for 32
race team out of Blacksburg that spent
three months recruiting runners and

Fund. In the end they collected over

$13 thousnad dollars for the cause.

that Pro wrestler Chris Benoit suffered
brain damage from his years in the ring
- multiple concussions - that doctors
say could help explain why he killed
his wife, son and himself.

conducted by Julian Bailes of the
Sports Legacy Institute, show that
Benoit's brain was severely damaged.

Now, despite the results there is
no way to know for sure if Benoit's
concussions contributed to the
murder-suicide, but doctors say there
is no doubt the level of brain damage
Benoit had can cause depression and
irrational behavior.
