The world s largest toy maker has
issued another recall at the urging of
the

Consumer Products Safety Commision.
800,000 toys made in China with too
much

lead paint are being pulled off the
shelves by Mattel.

The products include Barbie furniture,
the geo trax locomotive and bongo band

drums. Popular Barbie dolls were not
recalled.

It is dangerous with the lead
poisoning. It is scary, very scary.

This is the 3rd time in five weeks that
Mattel has been forced to recall toys.

In August, more than 20 million toys

were pulledand it all comes at a time

when most stores are stocking up for
Christmas.

Consumer confidence is an issue Mattel
officials are clearly concerned about.

In recent weeks, we promised consumers
we would focus on ensuring the safety

and quality of our toys, thru extensive
testing of finished products and

through investigation of our vendors.

Most of those vendors make their toys
in Chinaand that is proving to be a

problem. Chinese authorities claim to
be cracking down on the use of lead

paint and other quality control
concernsbut U-S officials say that s
not

enough.

into the U-S meet those U-S laws.

With 80 percent of all toys sold
worldwide made in China..several other
U-S

toy-makers have also been forced to

announced plans to open satellite

museum's rail yard around 7 o'clock
last night, for a short trip to the
East End Shops.

Norfolk Southern is celebrating
the 125th anniversary of the Roanoke
Shops, and the museum agreed to lend
both the 611 and the 1218 for a private
event on Saturday.

Neither locomotive has operated
under its own power in more than ten
years.
