likely.

Families of seven students

killed inside Norris Hall have hired a
Washington D-C law firm, though no
suits have been filed yet.

Their lawyer says the
lawsuits generally are expected to
claim negligence and federal civil
rights violations. He added that the
report by the governor's panel that
investigated the shootings supports
negligence claims.

any more than a year in prison.

U-S sentencing guidelines suggest
a range of six to 12 months in his
case.

While the corruption scandal
started out as case of gun-running and
drug trafficking in the sheriff's
office, money laundering, even
racketeering, Cassell admitted only to
lying to federal investigators.

The government is asking the
judge to consider imposing a sentence
Tuesday above the 12-month guideline

out, after Roanoke took steps to put
bus trolleys on Jefferson Street.

trolleys carried 24 million passengers
a year.

This system hauled less than HALF
a million last year.

The city touts return of the
streetcars as equal parts:
transportation, entertainment and
economic development tool.

The Tampa Downtown Partnership
claims 800-million dollars worth of new
construction has been completed, is
underway or has been approved- -since
the trolleys returned to Tampa five
years ago.

High-rise condos are now being
built along the streetcar line in the
Channelside district. The new Embassy
Suites hotel was built to front the
downtown trolley stop.

As popular as it appears to be,
the system is actually running in the
red, according to the most recent
annual report. The city has to
subsidize the fare box.

$250,000 for one of the cars.

The entire system bears the name
of the local power company. Tampa
Electric Company paid $1 million for
that.

The line spans just 2-point-four
miles... from the waterfront area
downtown to Centennial Park.

The tracks take up a substantial
part of the street. With a lane and a
half set aside as a trolley
right-of-way, there wouldn't be much
room left for conventional traffic in a
lot of places.

lot more than his camper when it caught
fire this morning on Interstate 77.

into a police chase that lasted for
miles.

afternoon in Botetourt County. And

A woman called the sheriff's
office to say someone was following
her.

When police arrived, they found
Von Ohlsen hiding beside the victim's
car with his hand in her window.
