Patience is a good way to put it,
since students have been uprooted after
a rat infestation at Fairview

Parents say it's been a problem for
years now.

OQ=was so bad And that's not the only incident.

Memos provided by the school system
reveal during 2006, a teacher turned in
14 bottles of glue with the tops eaten
off of them. During that same year,
"one rat ran across a room during SOL
testing. That same memo indicates the
rats are being noticed regulary by
students. In another undated memo,
many teachers hear several large
animals running through the ceiling
during school hours.

We shared this information with
school board chairman David Carson.

OQ=clearly That's because the problem continued

into 2007.

For example, the principal reported
she pulled a large rat out of a trap at
the beginning of summer school.

By August, someone complained to the
Health Department. An inspection found
droppings, and several dead rats had
been recovered from the ceiling because
of poison that had been laid out.

During a followup visit last week,
inspectors found large number of rodent
droppings under cooking equipment.

They also found droppings under a
work table, in the dishwashing room,
and under an ice cream freezer.

An international sensation for more
than four decades, Luciano Pavarotti
brought opera into the mainstream
culture.. captivating music buffs with
his soaring tenor and capturing
headlines with his operatic
personality.

(more nat)

He was born in 1935 in Modena, Italy
and as a child was already singing in
the city chorus. At 25, he made his
opera debut in the role of Rodolfo in
Puccini's "La Boheme." By 1972, he was
a full-fledged star, with triumphant
performances at New York's Metropolitan
Opera, which earned him the nickname
"the king of the high C's."

(natsot)

In 1990, Pavarotti joined Placido

Domingo and Jose Carreras to form "The
Three Tenors".. an alliance that lasted
for thirteen years and 34 concerts.
(INCLUDES HANDOUT MATERIAL)

Pavarotti said he would retire on his
70th Birthday, October 12,2005. That
retirement date came and wentwith
Pavarotti still in the middle of his
farewell tour. A malignant mass was
found in his pancreas during the summer
of 2006. . (natsot)

Pavarotti's manager announced the mass
was successfully removed and that he
was recovering well. But because
pancreatic cancer is so often at an
advanced stage by the time it is
diagnosed.. the survival rate is low.

He leaves behind a wife and four
daughters, as well as legions of fans
gathered over 45 years as one of the
world's greatest tenors. It was a life
full of hard work... and pleasure.

An international sensation for more
than four decades, Luciano Pavarotti
brought opera into the mainstream
culture.. captivating music buffs with
his soaring tenor and capturing
headlines with his operatic

personality.

(more nat)

He was born in 1935 in Modena, Italy
and as a child was already singing in
the city chorus. At 25, he made his
opera debut in the role of Rodolfo in
Puccini's "La Boheme." By 1972, he was
a full-fledged star, with triumphant
performances at New York's Metropolitan
Opera, which earned him the nickname
"the king of the high C's."

(natsot)

In 1990, Pavarotti joined Placido
Domingo and Jose Carreras to form "The
Three Tenors".. an alliance that lasted
for thirteen years and 34 concerts.
(INCLUDES HANDOUT MATERIAL)

Pavarotti said he would retire on his
70th Birthday, October 12,2005. That
retirement date came and wentwith
Pavarotti still in the middle of his
farewell tour. A malignant mass was
found in his pancreas during the summer
of 2006. . (natsot)

Pavarotti's manager announced the mass
was successfully removed and that he
was recovering well. But because
pancreatic cancer is so often at an
advanced stage by the time it is

diagnosed.. the survival rate is low.

He leaves behind a wife and four
daughters, as well as legions of fans
gathered over 45 years as one of the
world's greatest tenors. It was a life
full of hard work... and pleasure.

The Museum of the Confederacy in

Richmond has watched the number of
visitors go down over the years.

To fix the problem the director
announced plans to divide the
collection among three satellite
museums.

Along with Appomattox, new
museums are planned for
Chancellorsville and a third location
to be announced soon.

Battlefields are popular tourist
destinations that the museum hopes to
capitalize on.

Thousands of people already visit
the National Historical Park every
year.

Local leaders hope to keep those
tourists in the area longer by giving
them more to see.

Besides the Museum of the

Confederacy, the town is also working
to develop the Battle of Appomattox
Station battlefield site....they're
hoping to buy about 50 acres of mostly
wooded land for that site, turning it
into another tourist destination.

Saturday, but rain showers "could" move
