Interstate 77 at mile marker 24 in
Wythe County is closed because of an
accident overnight.

That's near the I-81 interchange.

State police say at least one
person was killed in the three-vehicle
accident.

No traffic backups have been
reported.

Both southbound lanes had been
closed, but V-DOT says the left lane
has re-opened.

The right lane will remain closed
for an undetermined amount of time.

Another accident is causing
traffic delays in the town of
Christiansburg.

Police report that there are
detours set up at the intersections of
Cambria Street Northwest and North
Franklin Street.

No further information about

either accident is available at this
time.

Dave Matthews headlined Virginia
Tech's benefit concert that lasted more
than five hours.

It also included performances by John
Mayer, Phil Vassar, and rapper Nas
(pronounced NAZ)

The purpose of the concert was to
help the Virginia Tech community move
forward after the April 16th tragedy.

The concert was free to students.


It attracted nearly fifty thousand
people.

troubles of former Henry County Sheriff
Frank Cassell Castle.

It seems he may not have to serve
any more than a year in prison.

VO-NAT Cassell is due in federal court


for sentencing next week.

U-S sentencing guidelines suggest

a range of six to 12 months in his
case.

While the corruption scandal
started out as case of gun-running and
drug trafficking in the sheriff's
office, money laundering, even
racketeering, Cassell admitted only to
lying to federal investigators.

The government is asking the
judge to consider imposing a sentence
Tuesday above the 12-month guideline
range.

students killed in the Virginia Tech
shootings have retained a law firm that
specializes in high-profile wrongful
death cases.

One of the attorneys told the
Washington Post the families are
considering wrongful death suits and a
federal civil rights claim against the
state.

The lawyers say families believe
university officials could have done

more to prevent the shootings.

Meanwhile, Virginia Tech is
still trying to figure what to do with
the building where most of the
shootings happened.

Yesterday, the university
announced a committee to find new uses

maintains he's innocent, but admits
there's enough evidence against him.

With that, the judge found him
guilty of abduction, rape and forcible
sodomy.

turning into a police chase that lasted
for miles.

It all started Wednesday
afternoon in Botetourt County. And
ended with police

Von Ohlsen.

A woman called the sheriff's
office to say someone was following
her.

When police arrived, they found
Von Ohlsen hiding beside the victim's
car with his hand in her window.

The department says Von Ohlsen
sped off after an investigator
identified herself.

feature clear skies as high pressure
stays in control of the local weather
scene. Today will be another steamy day
with highs heading toward 90. Right
now, it looks like the non-tropical low
pressure off the east coast will not be
much of a factor in our weekend

forecast. Besides some high cloudiness,
and maybe a stray shower, overall we'll
expect a pleasant weekend as the low
stays to our east and a sluggish front
stays to our north and west. Highs over
the weekend will be around the upper
80s to near 90. Sharply cooler
temperatures are forecast to arrive
