The Pentagon says seven soldiers were
killed and 11 wounded in a vehicle
accident in western Baghdad. Two
detainees in the vehicle were also
killed. No other details have been

man charged with stealing a Jeep from a
Blacksburg dealership may be connected
to Friday's fatal hit and run in
Christiansburg.

Anthony Adams of Floyd was
arrested Friday, although it wasn't
announced until today.

Adams is 47.

Investigators say he stole a
silver Jeep Rubicon from Duncan Jeep
Isuzu.

lots of damage was spotted at
Christiansburg gas station.

Investigators believed it was the
vehicle that crashed into a biker early
Friday morning.

22 year-old Gregory Jackson of
Christiansburg was killed in that
wreck.

Police say the driver took off.

No one has been charged with the
hit and run.

killed in a car crash in Blacksburg
over the weekend.

73 year old Lois Patricia Flynne
ran off Route 460 and crashed in the
median between South Main and Southgate

Drive.

It happened around 9 p-m on
Saturday.

Police say she over-corrected and
lost control of her S-U-V which flipped
several times.

northern Mexico, where a truck carrying
explosives for the mining industry blew
up after colliding with another
vehicle.

Authorities say the two vehicles
crashed into each other Sunday evening
on a busy highway, drawing a crowd of
curious onlookers.

Shortly after the crowd arrived,
the wreckage caught fire, and the

explosives blew up, sending a ball of
fire into the sky.

Officials say at least 34 people
were killed and more than 150 people
were injured.

It was unclear if the explosive
truck's driver was among the dead.

Early reports said he might have
fled the scene.

And six explosions also ripped
through natural gas pipelines for
Mexico's state oil monopoly. The
explosions, believed to be the result
of sabotage, sparked fires and prompted
authorities to evacuate thousands of
people.

No direct injuries were reported,
but civil defense agencies report two
women in their 70's died of heart
attacks shortly after the explosions.

The Mexican state oil monopoly

issued a statement saying it believes
this was a deliberate incident.

even hailstones as big as golf balls,
but how about the size of chicken eggs.

the Stavropol region of Russia when the
hail started falling.

Even if you were inside, you weren't
always safe. As you can see, the
hailstones destroyed windows, and even
some roofs couldn't handle the
onslaught.

Officials there figure the hailstorm
damaged hundreds of apartment buildings
and three thousand homes, not to
mention some schools and hospitals.

A few towns were left completely
without power.

cool front passes through the region
and stalls out in the Carolinas. Skies

Two weeks ago football were
wondering if Tyrod Taylor would be
redshirted this season.

Today, Tech's freshman
quarterback was named the Hokies'
starter by Frank Beamer - replacing
Sean Glennon.

for the Hokies this Saturday when Ohio
University comes to town for a 1:30
kickoff. Glennon had made 15 straight
starts for Tech.

Beamer said today that the move
is not a poor reflection on Glennon,
but that Taylor just fits Tech's
offensive personnel better right now.

Taylor made his collegiate debut
late in the first half against LSU this
past Saturday, and led Tech on its lone
scoring drive. For the game, he totaled
44 rushing yards on nine carries,
including a 1-yard touchdown run, and
completed 7-of-18 passes for 62 yards.
