Cassell is facing sentencing today. He
pleaded guilty earlier this year to
making false statements to the F-B-I.

Last Fall Cassell was one of 20 people arrested
last Fall, many of them sheriff's
deputies. The feds charged there was a
racketerring conspiracy at work and
alleged Cassell withheld information
from state and federal investigators.
The government will ask Judge James
Turk for a prison sentence of more than
a year. Cassell's attorneys will ask
for no more than six months of house
arrest.

hit and run continues in
Christiansburg.
Police are trying to determine if
a man charged with stealing a Jeep may
be connected to Friday's incident.

Anthony Adams of Floyd was
arrested Friday, although it wasn't
announced until yesterday.
Investigators say the 47 year old
stole a silver Jeep Rubicon from Duncan
Jeep Isuzu.

Friday According to a search warrant
filed last Friday- a similar Jeep with
a lot of damage was spotted at a
Christiansburg gas station.
Investigators believe it was the
vehicle that crashed into a biker early
Friday morning.
22 year-old Gregory Jackson of
Christiansburg was killed in that
wreck.
Police say the driver took off.
No one has been charged with the
hit and run.

White lost sight of the hound,
but eventually tracked her to an area

County pond last night.
Now investigators are trying to
determine his identity.
Someone found the man lying face down
in a pond on Dickerson Mill Road.
A pickup truck and fishing gear also
found nearby.

effort, historians discovered flags
were NOT an original fixture.
Because of that, the Speaker of

underground extension, but the battle

the capitol.
The new exhibit WILL however,

to investigate the death of a toddler.
On Friday evening, police were
called to the 300 block of Knollwood
Drive when a mother found her child
unresponsive in a car.
When police arrived, the nearly 2
year old was already dead.
Investigators are waiting on a
final report from the medical
examiner's office.
Police say it's up to the
commonwealth's attorney if any charges
will be filed.

of the woman killed over the weekend in
a car crash in Blacksburg.

ran off Route 460 between South Main
and Southgate Drive.
It happened around 9 Saturday
night.
Police say she over-corrected and
lost control of her S-U-V which flipped
several times.

only 15- died behind the wheel, but she
did have to pay a fine.
