Frank Cassell is going to prison for
eight months.

a fine of 15-thousand dollars.

The retired sheriff was indicted
on Halloween last year, along with a
dozen of his deputies.

The government portrayed the case
as a major public corruption scandal.

Cassell pled guilty in May to one
count of making a false statement.

a 15 year old driver .. for the Carroll
County accident that killed three other
teenage girls in the pickup truck with
her.

She's charged with reckless driving,
driving without a license, and
transporting people under the age of 16
in the back of a pickup truck.

They say Michael Shane

GRAPHIC=RATS IN SCHOOL Apparently rats are a problem at

more than one Roanoke city school.

Last week, we were first to tell
you the school system knew there was a
rat problem at Fairview as far back as
1999.

New documents obtained by News 7
show a recent inspection found evidence
of rats in 9 classrooms, the front
office, and the cafeteria.

The report goes on to say
droppings were found in mass quantities
and that Fairview Elementary is not
alone.

Our research that found in the last
two years, more than half of the
Roanoke City's schools had rats and
mice, or evidence of them.

Documents provided by the school
system show the extent of the problem.

Many are wanting to know if the
rat problem is a health risk..

6 year-old Alex Bennett just got
fitted for it this week.

It's a wheelstand invented by Dan
Davis.

He made the device in the early
80's for his daughter - Dani - who has
cerebral palsy.

It was helpful for kids with
spinal cord injuries and several years
later, Davis began selling them.

Alex's mom - Kelly Bennett says
she and her husband bought this
Standing Dani to help make their son's
life more normal.

counties say a teacher at Fort Chiswell

High School was having a sexual
relationship with a student.

31 year old Jason Andrew
Hounshell is charged with one
misdemeanor and two felonies.

a key piece of evidence in a deadly hit
and run investigation in
Christiansburg.

Investigators found a box of
toothpicks inside a stolen jeep.

One had been chewed.

VO-NAT 47-year old Anthony Edward Adams

is charged with stealing that jeep.

According to search warrants
filed yesterday, an officer saw Adams
with the box of toothpicks, and police
have even requested his DNA and
fingerprints.

Police believe the stolen jeep

found abandoned at the Citgo Station
was actually involved in a hit and run
accident with a motorcyclist.

22 year old Gregory Jackson was
killed in that wreck.

Adams has not been charged with
the accident, but it appears police are
building a case against him.

County pond Monday night drowned.

That's the finding of an
autopsy.

However, sheriff's department
investigators and the medical
examiner's office still have not
positively identified the man.

He was found face down in a
farm pond on Dickerson Mill Road.

Deputies found fishing gear
and a wallet in a pick-up truck nearby.

However, authorities are still
waiting for dental records to make a

murder trial in Montgomery County is
appealing his robbery conviction.

Last March a jury convicted Morva
on multiple counts related to three
attempted robberies.

He was sentenced to 38 years in
prison.

and American culture by changing lives.

Falwell took over as head pastor
of Thomas Road Baptist Church when his
father died back in May.

The 41- year- old says his father
always taught him to speak up.
