(END SOT) PRESIDENT BUSH HOPES A PLAN TO BRING

SOME U-S TROOPS HOME WILL EASE THE

(SOT: President Bush) - "The way

it

possible, for the first time in years,
for people who have been on opposite

sides of this difficult debate to come
together."

THE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF HAS ACCEPTED
RECOMMENDATIONS FROM HIS TOP GENERAL ON

MILITARY WILL START WITHDRAWING TROOPS

ADDED AS PART OF THE SURGE STRATEGY AND
57-HUNDRED WILL BE HOME, BY

more successful we are, the more
American

troops can return home."

(STANDUP BRIDGE: Jennifer Miller / CBS

success

will require U.S. political, economic,
and security engagement that extends

beyond my Presidency."

THAT'S NOT WHAT WAR CRITICS LOOKING FOR

ALSO POINT OUT -- THE PRESIDENT IS NOT

MAKING ANY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES IN

IN THE

(SOT: Sen. Jack Reed / D - RHODE

VO-NAT Former Governor Mark Warner made

his decision to run for the U-S Senate
public today through this online video.

He believes the Senate is where
he can best serve Virginians and, if
elected, promises to be an independent
voice.

The 52- year- old says America's
problems can't be solved by partisan
politics.

He hopes to take the experience
he gained in Richmond he says working
across party lines-- to Washington.

Meanwhile, another former
governor... Jim Gilmore is also
interested in the job.

You may recall he recently pulled
out of the presidential race... well,
he's back in Virginia now raising money
and helping elect Republicans to the
state- house.

He calls the Senate seat a "big
opportunity" that he's considering.

He also hasn't ruled out running
for governor again in 2009.

Another Republican interested in
the job is northern Virginia
Congressman Tom Davis.

Both men have indicated they'll
wait until after November to make their

VO-NAT How about, your mascot getting

beat down?

Unfortunately for Houston fans
that was just the case in their season
opener verses the Oregon Ducks

The Ducks' mascot got upset after

the Cougars' mascot imitated his
signature move -- doing pushups after a
touchdown.

As you can see, he didn't take it
very well.

But the Cougars may of gotten the
last laugh.

The Duck will not take the field
this Saturday after being suspended for
what the University of Oregon deems as
'Inappropriate Conduct'
